    MOTHERFUCKING SHIT.

New skis day for me! Woo hoo!

Pick them up (from pretty much the only shop that does any kind of volume/has experienced techs by me, Peter Glenn) and I’m like well, that doesn’t look right at all.

I taped the “Candide boot center” line on both skis when I dropped them off and said I want the factory rec for this one as with the surface area and sidecut on these, that actually skis more like a center mount.

Nope. 3cm forward of that mark. Fuck.

I have center mount park skis. I don’t want another pair.

Kid said I can redrill and plug the holes for you. Nope. Not going to work.

So head tech now is involved and he is just trying to make a bad situation better and says he’ll find new skis for me.

Problem is, this was the last year for Faction Candides, and I’m not seeing more than one pair of 183s online.

So if anyone has a line on any, please let me know. I’m trying to ski them over Thanksgiving.

    Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Haven’t owned a mounting jig in 10+ years.

I don’t have one of butter’s Stone grinders either.

Take the plugs. You’ll never notice the plugs are there. Maybe ask them to throw in a few tunes or something if you’re feeling like squeezing them.

Aww man, I saw the picture and was about to comment on your “park skis” and then read on. Sadly I have nothing to offer but condolences.

    mount your own fucking skis.

Short of that, you should have marked bootcenter on the skis with a sharpie. Doesnt everyone do this?

Have them remount as you wanted and they should comp your mount. You will not notice, and by the time you think about selling the skis in 3+ years the skis will be old enough and beat enough that an extra mount will mean nothing to the resale value.

Lol. Thing is, they could offer to buy me the most expensive pair of [insert brand here] and I still wouldn’t want them. I wanted these as they’re pretty much the only ski out there that is what I want - a full-camber burly all mountain bump ski with true twin tips.

Take the remount, a rain check for a free tune to cover the loss in value, and don’t be a bitch.

xWhatever on a remount. It'll bug you for a day or two, then you'll never think about it again.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

Peter Glenn, ha! I bought my very first snowboard pants and jacket from there. The one on Roswell road IIRC?

Good. So they didn't screw up your sense of humor. Just your skis. Want some crackers to go with that Swiss cheese?

Like I said in my original post I taped them and marked them exactly where I wanted them mounted.

Since I am not in new skis every year anymore it is not practical from a cost standpoint or my time standpoint to have a full shop set up in my garage anymore, as nice as that would be.

Have them mounted correctly. Agree on a monetary value for their mistake and ski them.

    Snowboarders don't know this pain.
We just move our bindings to the other inserts.

I can’t justify a full shop either, since I only get a new pair of skis every few years, but I do have a drill, a bit, and a printer

Tooooo many smoke breaks for the kid. Let them remount for no charge and let them give you a dozen pickle balls you can dole out to your older neighbors for good karma.
