I skied Blewett today but didn't find anything that tasty ^^

Sun corn, rain corn, dirt, graupel. Yay spring!

PNW 2022/2023 Season - It's Triple Dip La Niña Time!

The 7” on top of the 4” yesterday skied so deep today at Stevens. The hard crust from this past week’s warm up showed up every now and then, but you could still charge. Backside was fun up top with thin and crusty down below. North facing aspects were deep and skied like winter snow all day.

Waited in the Big Chief line first thing then nothing more than five minutes all day.

Heard about a BMW flipping onto its roof after we had reached the summit. Anyone else catch that?

There was a pretty underglow emanating from Shuksan yesterday. Kinda cool.

Just took the studs off all 3 snowcars.
    So, it should dump.

    Note to foreigners:

Alpental is on its last Thursday-Sunday schedule of the season and moving to the Friday-Sunday schedule for the first 2 weeks of April, then going to a weekend only schedule.

Crustal intends to keep Northway running through April 15, unclear about schedule after the 16th.

The Crystal $1799 season pass effect, I suspect.

Enjoyed nothing more than a 10-minute lift line at Stevens yesterday. Sure, the first lift up Big Chief was crazy long (snaked all the way to the rope row), but it was an April pow day. Most lines were less than 5-minutes after that, with the occasional Hogsback line being closer to 10.

Seems like conditions were better at Alpy, but you pay a price all day. Bummer.

    Crustal skied great.
410 was the worst I'd seen it in years: total skating rink, no plowing, no sand. The state must have run out the snow plowing funds. The drive took about 20% longer, though people were remarkably reasonable, both in the morning and at 3:00 pm.

Busy, B lot half full at 8, but mtn ops were happening and loading people by 8:35.
13" in the last 48 hours on top of hard ice up high and softer schm00 down below 5k.
Frontside skied great, more cream on crust sort of conditions, some tough bumps lurking. The winner line on the frontside was leftberg, holding untracked lines past 11.
Grubstake chutes had good snow packed in the gut and the apron skied soft, lots of deep pockets in the trees.
Chair 6 line was ridiculous until about 11. Thereafter Throne bowl skied well and the stupids held untracked lines at 2:30.

I held off on Northway until after 1:00, but found good patches in some stashes even then. Big crowd still skiing at 2:30.

It's dumping on and off, got some good graupel blasters in the afternoon.

If they get another 2-3" tonight and a little wind, tomorrow will be sweet.

Okay thx for reports ! Love the April storms and usually crowds have mellowed by then. Didn’t knows the term left berg but if it’s the trees just past ferks I love it .

It's not Ferks. It's Iceberg. Dammit.
    No crowd mellowing today.

Yes, long lines all day on Sunday in April!! There was still a chair 2 line at 3pm of people trying to get to the high T. It was fully winter up there in every respect. Someone in front of me got stuck on the icy access road in the morning. Great snow.

    Sleeper pow day at Crustal.
Yesterdays dimples under 3-5" held a bunch of deep slots. The usual stashes produced. South was particularly sweet.

Ski on lifts everywhere except when Chinook broke about 12:00.

Reccos for places to camp with a GFC outside Seattle and/or near Alpental? I'm there for some shows, to ski one or two days, and to mountain bike starting late next week. Ideally camp at lower elevation if possible to be warmer although I haven't ruled out bringing the diesel heater.

Are you looking for established campgrounds or dispersed camping? How far from civilization do you want to be? You need to be on the Seattle side of the mountains?

There's great campgrounds and dispersed camping down Middle Fork Rd outside of North Bend. Lowish elevation so should not have snow, but in a deep river valley, so will be darker. Not far from Raging River and Tiger Mountain for riding.
