Who's got the best Fish & Chips in the greater Seattle area? My GF & I are up from Reno visiting my Mom who lives on the South end of Whidbey. We usually just hit up Ivars in Mukilteo before we get on the ferry, but if anyones got a better recommendation let me know. Thanks.

Ivars is tough to beat. This is also very good, with funk, and with attitude.

Diamond Knot Brewing is kitty corner from Ivars near the Mukilteo ferry terminal. They have way better fish and offer tots at no extra cost.

I LOVE the Athenian. One of my all time faves and their fish and chips is pretty good. But really go there for the view (great date joint especially for out of towners) and what was at least once upon a time an insanely good and cheap happy hour. We did a mag gathering there a few years back. They seem to close a lot, and early unfortunately.

I do think the PI's is better fish and chips tho. And they'll do tots too IIRC.

I feel like Spud, while tasty, as massively overpriced.

Pre-covid there used to be a downtown food truck called Nosh that made the best fish n chips (together with a side of absolutely superb mushy peas) that I've ever had in this country.

    Good Eye!
Maude from Seven Finger Jack- went up to do 7FJ and Fernow, which did happen; the rest of the plan to drop into Holden and check on the Spider glacier on the way back got rained out. I had my fingers crossed for the forecast to improve, but alas….

Riff, I think I talked to you for a bit at the Phelps Creek trailhead. I was just getting back to my car when you pulled up on your motorcycle. Would've been on Saturday early afternoon or late morning?

For sure, a quality location for quick getaways. Any idea what happened to the money the FS had for the Phelps road? Didn’t seem like any work had been done.

Yeah, we used to hit Diamond Knot a lot when we lived on Whidbey, while waiting for the ferry. Still have a couple pint glasses from there.

Had a shitty ferry experience a couple weeks ago. They were only running one boat (staffing issues, yeah I should have checked the website), waited over an hour and when we got down to the pay window the lady said it would be ANOTHER two hours. Said fuck it and drove up around over Deception Pass bridge instead. Made it to Seabolt's Seafood Restaurant in Oak Harbor for lunch and that place is as great as it was 15 years ago when we lived there. Outstanding fish and chips. Everything on the menu is great IMO.

Anyway back to the ferry debacle...while we were stopped waiting at the stoplight on the hill three cars cut the line in front of us from the sidestreet. I got out and bitched at them and they just sat there not looking at me. Somebody called the state patrol though because 45 minutes later a cop showed up and kicked their asses out of line. Fucking justice was served and it was very satisfying to witness.

I’m guessing it was spent getting the Chiwawa open at the washout below Little Giant TH in June
