What's with the fully padded ski poles?

I can imagine myself bashing my face on the top of that pole if I was gripping it lower than the top to ski bumps or park. Not a good look for me (others probably disagree) but you be you..

I have duos and like them a lot, but round grip makes it harder to flip the risers on the heels. I recall Cody making his own tooth for this purpose.

I might print up a hook for the top of BC poles if I can get a good internal mount. Otherwise just glue it in.

25 years ago I did the mod to put grip below the standard grip on my Lifelink poles. (Thanks cool JH skiers.) I used rope and hockey tape. Turned out, I never used it. Then I used BD carboney whatever flick lok models. Now I use these Lekis, which are fucking awesome. I use the strap because I often do long skates to get to trail heads, and use the full 150 length. Fuck, I wish they went to 160.
The coolest thing are the baskets. On steep climbs (which I know TGR folks never do steep skin climbs), the one-way basket is just unbelievably cool.
Grivel makes one now that flips.

Careful. You'll awaken the no-strap hordes. They'll come beat your dick until you see the error of your ways, stop using your pole straps, and death grip your poles instead.

In all seriousness though, the options on releasable pole straps coupled with some awesome telescoping designs and flexible pole baskets, I don't see a reason to get myself some ribbed poles. Besides the obvious reasons.

yup, a few minutes in the Taggart parking lot in GTNP reveals a clusterfuck of exum douches with black crows and cham-ish poles. All that’s missing is a cigarette for the real cham look, but I guess their dude pickups or sprinters idling in the parking lot at least captures the lung damaging aspect.

confirm that the ribbed poles are pleasurable (for touring). Never have to think about your poles whether sidehilling, booting, skiing shallow, skiing steep, sideslipping, poling on flat road, etc. I hate adjustable poles - they can break and also it's so fiddly. Why do you need to adjust your pole lol? Seems so soft.

For resort I do not disgrace myself with the ribbed poles, I have different ones that I bought for like 15 bucks.

Kinda don't trust carbon, I use aluminum for both.

Just fondled them at the factory last week, seem like a decent deal for the money--waaay better than their old ones. I like the upper being inside concept, no idea why, I just like it.

I broke the top of the handle off my Folkrm pole the other day on a light tap against my boot. Was pretty bummed considering I had only gotten them last season and was about to go out for a day of skiing.

But, shout out to Folkrm customer service (AJ, who might be the owner??), they got me a new set to my door in just a few days. Love having padded poles for my pleasure. 10/10 experience.
