    ESS,

That is just nuts! Skiing the ridge between P2 and P3 in conditions like that and NOT hitting anything in early November is crazy. Nice work! Those shots of the top of the noids and than looking up at your tracks got me really jealous.

How was it getting in? Obviously it looks nice from the photo, but sometimes that can deceive. From the shots from the bottom the entrances to the noids look great for this time of year. I love seasons where the noids have easy entrances.

This storm seems to have been just right. Were there any big slides?

    Mookieman, great shots as well.

This is really killing me, but glad you guys are getting some.

It was an amazing week of skiing for sure. I read 70” of new snow over the Top.

Looking up P1. On Thursday prior to the Top opening someone set a traverse track off the back of ch 3 that made it so you could push out to the top of ch 12, which wasn’t running. On the way out I stopped and took a couple pics.

Kept lapping this area until the Top opened.
Let’s hope there’s lots more weeks like the last one this season.

Nice photos, looking good up there.

Got a notification email from USFS that resort is wanting to do a major update to main lodge area. Looks like plan would be no more parking and a new day lot with access chair lower down. Moving the highway seems like a great idea.

Been keeping an eye on this for a bit. Any body know if they plan to keep the bones of the old lodge? Be a shame if they didn't. Apparently the reason the old lodge has fallen into relative disrepair is the owners have refused to provide a long enough lease for the current operators to invest in upgrades. My biggest worry is that the old lodge's good (loose) dog policy will disappear.

Good skiing yesterday. Cover for this time of year is great and the place was empty. Only downside was a ripping North East wind with a cold wind chill.

1st day up, and it's remarkable how filled-in the mtn is for mid-Nov.
Low temps are clearly helping snow quality. CH4, 5, 3, 2 and Dave's were skiing mid-winter.
Zero folks up here right now...not sure if tomorrow gets a surge, or if Wednesday is the crush.
Thankfully, all lodges will be open by Thursday...(canyon is open full time now).

On my way down to see Chargers vs Chiefs on Sunday and check out what a $5 billion stadium (SOFI) is like. After skiing Mammoth Mon-Thurs, I skied Mt Rose yesterday. Terrain options were "limited"....one chair & two runs open, nothing off piste. Snow was firm, with the natural snow scraped off down to the man made glaze. Folks on the chair kept saying "Isn't this great." Not really. After five runs I was done. Mammoth for the win.

Here's a couple more pics from this past week. This was late in the day on Thursday.

Ch 23 didn't run mid week so I hiked up to take a look at the Wipeouts. Wipeout 2 had a few decent turns up top, but then transitioned to punchy & breakable snow. Better skiing overall was on the Dropout side of 23.

Make sure your credit card is warmed up....$15 slices of pizza and $18 beers await you...I went last fall with a work thing and we got a round of some nice tequilla (doubles) and it was like $42 per drink...that aside the stadium is like a spaceship. Ubers in is super easy. Out is a death march of epic proportions. Parking is fucking stupid expensive if you want to be within sight of the stadium. 'Murica.

Also make sure you use the correct entrance in accordance with your tickets. Great stadium once in your seats but a total shit show trying to walk from one section to another. Had to ride an elevator at one point… lol.

Thanks for the heads up. I’m pre-gaming at the moment. For someone who grew up going to Chargers games at the
Murph/Qualcomm, this should be an interestingl experience.

How’s the skiing/snow holding up? Might jam down from Tahoe for a day trip tomorrow if the wind buff is still good.

Great skiing, the snow is really good, a little icy in the morning and late in the day, but I would say it's worth the day trip.

Any word on new terrain opening at Alpine/Palisades? Trying to make the same decision for the holiday weekend. Currently leaning towards Mammoth.

Any idea what year that was? I suspect winter '68/'69 by how fat everything is. I think I have only seen Hangman's that wide once, and even then, probably not that wide.

I agree it is a constitutional right for Americans to be assholes...its just too bad that so many take the opportunity...

I heard rumors of a major incident, possibly even a fatality happening today at Mammoth, on Broadway. I just checked and I couldn't find anything online, does anyone have any information?

No information but I passed an ambulance + fire flying up the access road around 12:30pm. They were definitely trying to get somewhere fast.

I spoke to someone in the lift who said his wife was the first person to find the guy and performed CPR. She wasn’t successful in getting a heartbeat going and he died on the scene. Apparently he wasn’t wearing a helmet and hit a tree/stump on the head. This was near roller coaster though so perhaps a different incident? Either way, vibes to friends and family.

And it probably goes without saying but (tell your loved ones to) wear a helmet, it could save your (their) life.
