Looks like the first snow of the season comes this weekend. Nothing measurable, but nice to see snow back in the forecast.

Bernie Rosow groomed Cornice Bowl today, hoping to help this weekend's snowfall to stick. And he posted photos & videos on IG stories. https://www.instagram.com/bernierosow/

Just saw this, and had same thought - hope he's ok, and hope it's not the end of the Dweeb Report. I think he's had someone help write and forecast the last couple years, though.

I remember when his kid worked for us part time at Ski School his senior year of HS. He's done really well for himself.

When you are driving on the 395 at Olancha I highly recommend stopping at the Olancha Cafe . It’s on the south end of town , they have rooms , tee pees and a pool .
Mainly though they have GREAT FOOD
    Breakfast , Lunch and dinner

Airstrip out behind the hotel too
about 1700 feet long and good dirt

We are a distinct "maybe"... I generally don't like ribbon of death on just 1 run for opening w/e. Ski Team is in theory starting so kids are debating as well. Fingers crossed for snow!

Looks like potential for a small "storm" next week. Hopefully this triggers the start of our real winter.

Yeah I was out there as well on Sunday. I skied waited till 1:00 before going out after my buddy said he did one run on Saturday and feared for his life due to the amount of people on the hill.

Broadway in the afternoon on Sunday. Crowded, bumped out with sheets of slick man made and floating gravel.

Back of ch 3 late in the day. The snow in between the bumps is rock hard. I hit more rocks in 3 hrs than I did skiing at Rose on Friday and Saturday. Dude on the chair kept telling me how good it was for November. My reply was this isn’t good for anytime of year. Best thing that can be said about the skiing is that there is skiing.

    Nov 12, 2023.

God I miss the winter of 22/23. Headed up to the hill to see if snowmaking and cat crew performed a miracle last night.

I think the better way to phrase that would be “which one sucks less?”

I was surprised how crowded Rose was on the opening Friday...compared to Saturday and Sunday, when it looked pretty quiet (on the cams) for a weekend.
Rose only has one lift, (at least it is not beginner terrain). Looks like more than one chair open at MM.

Hopefully the mountain picks up something from this cut off low spinning off the coast. Doesn't look too promising, but anything is better than nothing.
