Have you hooked up with Cono for beers?

Up Thursday night w/ mini Comish who is not so mini anymore. At least this storm is coming in right side up. Maybe it will stick to the top?

Who? And I spend pretty much every waking minute working so meeting up is hard.

I hope to be on mtn Fri. I expect the top will pop by Fri/Sat which oughta appease the crybabies who don't realize every season that the announced opening date is arbitrary.

Break out the rock skis....will be interesting to see how windy it gets as well. Hoping that last week's storm will be pretty receptive to this one but a lot on the upper elevations looked pretty bare still so who knows...

Trying to convince the Mrs. & Mini Me that an early season mission is the call this weekend...

So patrol.mammothmountain.com now redirects here: https://mammothmountain.westernweathergroup.com/

The new site is honestly pretty slick. But the Patrol site had a lot of features that have without warning disappeared. The one that I appreciated the most was the atlas of zones and avy paths. I've been able to go through the Wayback Machine to screengrab a lot of it. But some of the data isn't archived and certain elements, such as historical avalanche photos, are gone entirely. I really hope this stuff is archived with the Patrol, would be a real bummer if all that data got wiped.

Was out storm skiing for most of the afternoon until it blew out and everything shut down around 2:30. By then it was zero vis & my last ride up ch 6 was sketchy.

Big winds and dumping snow turned the Main Lodge parking lot into a disaster at the end of the day. Watched this tricked out 4Runner nail a 3ft berm and get epically high centered.

One more quick pic to give some scale to the amount of new snow. Vons parking lot at 7:00 pm. Most of this has fallen from about noon on today.

    That sucks!

I always really liked the slide paths and the atlas of zones. They had pitches, which I really liked.

Looking really nice this morning. From this picture I think they could open a lot of terrain once the staff shows up to run it.

After a bit of a delayed start yesterday, it turned into a super fun day. Temps stayed on the brisk side with highs around 14 deg and big wind chill on top of that. I ended up skiing until last chair, and the legs are feeling it today.

Wow, that looks sweet! We won't be able to go this weekend, but we'll be back in a week.

I did notice the change in the patrol website, thefrush. I kinda liked the immediacy of the information in the old website, right away you got temperature and wind and base and top. But the new website is really cool and there's a lot of information, I just hope that it remains free. I didn't think of the atlas, that's sad that it's gone.

Looking back up. Skied the ridge between
P2 & P3. Snow was a little more wind affected than down low, but still really good. Didn’t hit a thing.

Finished the day off with a hike up to the top of ch 22 and skied avi 2.
The snow was meh. The bowl (shown) was better, less slabby.
Great week overall. Looking like a busy weekend.
    Cheers!

Awesome pics Eastern Sierra Skier. Some buddies and I got up there Thursday morning and skied till last bell on Sunday. I think I must've skied below your lines on both Avy 2 and Paranoids.

Thanks to my buddy's less-than-stellar bladder performance, we ended up stopping at McCoy on Thursday afternoon and much to our surprise a line was forming for the Gondola! We ended up on the ~10th one up and scored some fresh tracks up top for the rest of the day.
