Appreciate the followup. We skied. It was variable. Summer sports time. The end.

I 100% agree with limiting snow days and like the article last week that talked about RE-1 discussing moving away from full snow days to just delays. Our school is going to see some big calendar changes in the future and that's all related to the amount of class time we offer. Missed days for snow days don't help that fight, and even though I love skiing, I'm always very hesitant to push for a full snow day when we're texting to decide at 5:30. Ultimately we usually follow the direction of ASD, who are working with the County, City and Sherriff's to determine road conditions and what's safe.
I feel like school districts everywhere it snows have been quicker to call snow days ever since Covid. Canyons School District in UT went 15 years without a snow day and they’ve had like 8 in the last 3 years. They seem much easier to call now because the schools simply “pivot to remote learning” rather than calling the day altogether. Kids still get to ski, they do an hour or so of school work at some point in the day, and it doesn’t count against the schools required number of days for the school year.

Almost everything below 10k. Some snow patches just above that elevation. I’d stay away from Snowmass for now.

Pivoting to remote learning? They’re not doing that around here anymore.

Some friends pedaled a bunch of the bike park yesterday and said it was good but don’t know exactly which trails they did

Rode most of smuggler/hunter creek today and it’s all good to go. I could see there being some mud on the traverse over to sunnyside and maybe hobbit but everything up to upper plunge is riding great. Buttermilk is also riding very well right now. Basalt mtn is not in, learned that the hard way

What did you try to ride on basalt mtn? I rode up to mill and that looked good for a bit but I figured a few down trees. Didn’t go look at the lower rode yet

Went 1/2 mile into basalt mtn trail and was still wet with tons of deadfall, not too surprising there. Mill creek has ~15 downed trees and some big mud sections

Something like that (Buttermilk) or a day up in Hunter Creek may be in order for Monday. Office is closed for Juneteenth.

Buttermilk is really good right now with all the moisture. Super fast and grippy

House work and tired legs got in the way of a big ride. Did go up and check out Mill Creek. Still needs a week or two to dry out. About 10 or so blowdowns still. Some medium holes are now BIG holes.

Bike Park open's tomorrow with everything below Elk Camp, GTG. Tom Blake and Sequel open tomorrow, East Government and Anaerobic Nightmare on the 28th.

Some BFUB with knee pads and hiking poles has been bitching at the Animal Control girls, about off leash dogs. They are going to start enforcing on the South Rim, until this blows over.

I know most of you guys have young families. But the JAS June Experience
Is an awesome event that should be on all of your lists.

    Great bands, small venues.

Hey y’all, gonna be back here 29th - 5th with some close friends and our partners. Any recommendations on things we should do?

The guys are going to the bike park one day, but wondering if there’s some good local music (like the Jazz above) or other bikes / activities that would be good as a group!

Where are you staying? Has the group been before and done the main touristy stuff?

The free Thursday night concerts at Snowmass are a blast.
Almost any show at the Belly Up is good.

Tragic about Jim Crown. He was good to Aspen! RIP

Yes! We are up on Snowmass…friend has a bougie ass place… no complaints from me haha.

Last year we did Devils Punchbowl, hit BellyUp this winter, hiked AJAX, done all the main stuff I’d say. Also I’ve been whitewater rafting nearby as well.

This time we have the ladies in tow, so wanted to see if there’s that they may really like.

The Snowmass Thursday night music sounds great!

I'm guessing it won't work with your schedule if you're actually leaving on the 5th but the Snowmass Rodeo on Wednesday nights can be fun if you've never been. Town's such a shitshow for the 4th but the upside is the people watching is all-time. Ride down Rio Grand Trail to Woody Creek Tavern for lunch/dinner is a classic and there are lots of shuttle services that will pick you up so you don't have to pedal home drunk, but if you rent e-bikes that might be unnecessary. Rent SUP's and float Northstar Preserve with 250 of of your closest friends?
