I don’t think anywhere was too busy. Highlands and Snowmass looked great. Highlands can be difficult to solve when aspect plus wind plus elevation plus tree protection all are variables. But when you get that rubics cube down…. 🤩

I skied Ajax from about 1:30 on and it was awesome. There were definitely some icy and crunchy spots in places…but Walsh’s, FIS, Ruthies were at times thigh deep.
The snow above and below Zoot Chute was some of the deepest I found. I was tempted to hit it, but must admit, I have never been to that specific spot before and was alone. Likely find a shark this early.

Speaking of sharks…I was traversing from Glade #1 and #2 and got hooked up on a two inch diameter tree cut boot high at a freaking sharp angle. Would hate to fall on that!

2022-23 Aspen/Roaring Fork Valley Conditions
Found pockets of some of the deepest snow I’ve ever skied yesterday at highlands, lap after lap of almost no tracks except my own. Several core shots attest to me failing to resist the temptation to hit some lines that are not ready in mid December though. Will be back for more today for as long as my legs and frozen toes can survive….

It was cold early, but pretty dam nice by 11.
Not really a cruising kind of day.
I got first tracks in Hyrups/ Jackpot at 10:30. Nobody wanted skate out, with the slow snow.
Swing by 1A at 10 tomorrow, if you guy want to take some laps. I’d do some brats, but I think most people would prefer to go inside.

Took my hardest crash of the season and went home by noon.
Campground opens today and I’ll be lapping it all morning. It had been good.
The wind fucked the road above Belly Grabber. Hopefully they can get a groomer up there to fix it. Too bad they didn’t, prior to the wind event.

I lived in the RFV from 2000-2008 and used to ski - and skin Highlands a lot up to Loge and then ski and hike the bowl all day from there. What's happening there now?- is there an automated ticket checker- or a human who consistently checks for passes?

They haven’t had the ticket checker machine there yet this year

Well…. Screwing around on the campground wind lips today I got bucked forward on the biggest one about 1/3 of the way down and feel like I tore something in my left knee.
Will go see someone early next week.
Bummer as I have a hut trip week after next and was just getting into ski shape

Anyone need skis and boots for a growing girl or even a small boy?
