I am stoked to report I am back on the snow again. After 2 retina detachments one in August and the other in early November, the second one being more serious than the first...I was a pirate till Thanksgiving...not in a good way of plundering and looting but squinting and taking it easy.

Turns out skiing is good for the soul and I am so stoked to be up in the mountains today.

I am so grateful to be able to see again

    Ski you later

Been using this NOAA page to get my weather lately, pretty neat quick synopsis of weather, avy, and snow totals. No idea how I found it, so figured I'd share it here

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

How many you want? Gonna have another batch made...

Seriousness aside, I'm honored that these appeared after a decade of absence.
Wonder if I'll ever learn who had em made. Gotta know the person, no?

My son tried to go to Brighton today, he’s been getting there around 11-12 and snagging a spot as someone leaves. Today he hit bumper to bumper at Solitude’s second entry. Took him over an hour from there to reach the lot at Brighton, only to find the lot completely roped off and turned around.

But, according to KSL the traffic situation has “Settled down.”

Snow Sunday afternoon thru Tuesday morning. Alta expected to get 12-18 in.

What is the possibility that 210 will close on Monday morning for some time for avalanche control.

Yes - I know there is no way to know for sure. Just trying to get an idea based on previous years.

I have a flight to catch at 3pm. Hoping to get in at least a couple of hours of skiing.

    Thx

So you're wanting someone to forecast the forecasters?
    I'll give er a shot.
There will be a road closure and shoot Monday a.m if we get the high end or exceed the forecast.
Nothing will hit the road on account of S winds til Monday when they turn west and the fact that the paths aren't filled in yet.
The main highway under Superior will remain closed, anyway.
Traffic will be flowing early and the Alta should open on or close to on time.
That's my forecast, have fun skiing!

To add: "Traffic will be flowing early" is vague, eh? Road open at 0817.

Went and poked around Days/Cardiff today. Turned up BCC at 7:30 and the line of traffic was all the way down to 215.
Snow was good, other then some wind funk down lower from up canyon wind I presume.
Kept is lowish angle, but hit a few test slope rollovers and got some whoomping and cracking but nothing moved.
Facets and what not was observed all over the place. South facing still looks scoured out,
maybe the go to if we get a couple of feet this week.

So how long does it take to get to trailhead when you enter canyon at 0730? Full on red snake?

Coming down BCC yesterday at 4 right above the S turn looks like a car got a boulder straight through the windshield/roof into the lap of the driver. Anyone know the story? Hope they were okay...

BCC is the new LCC. yesterday morn that (BCC mouth) ntersection looked like a massive ganglion with all lanes entering into it backed up beyond sanity. I sailed through that intersection at about 900am on my way into LCC, all the way up to snowbird with only one minivan up ahead of me and nobody behind... it's been like this nearly every time I've been up LCC this season.
    style matters...
