^ I used to see broken glass all the time while skiing and being around BCC. Fuck. I took out an additional renters policy to cover my stuff in the van, and never felt good working in SLC w my rig parked downtown. Quit after a couple shifts and bailed on SLC.

what ever it is you are doing you’re doing it wrong. We pulled out of our parking stall in Gad valley at 4:48, even after taking a few minutes to get out of the parking lot we pulled into our driveway at 520. Hell, by the time we got half way down the canyon the cars behind us were no where to be seen and the car in front of us was about 200 yards in front of us.

But holy shit what an ikonic shitshow Friday was. The absolute shit of the shit ikon skiers were in town. We skied Thursday, beautiful bluebird day with no one home, walk on trams all afternoon and an empty mountain. Fast forward 24 hours and what a fucking shitshow. Conditions were firm and fast but I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many people slide for life in a single day in my life. Every lap we took we saw someone sliding down the mountain and not how they should be sliding. I could do a six page writeup of the stupid shit we saw Friday. For example my wife and I were getting on the mineral lift with two random guys, it’s our turn to go we push out, the chair comes we’re in the process of sitting down on the chair when the ikonic morons behind us run into the back of our chair, they fall over and knock a ski off of the random guy sitting on the lift next to me. WTF? How does that even happen? Last run of the day, we’re parked on the bypass road we ski down and there’s ski patrol helping a lady who just did a slide for life down oh my god. We planned to ski Saturday but after Friday’s ikonic shitshow we didn’t.

vibes to the guy in the y couloir incident. Absolutely horrible.

    Glad you're okay ZZZ.

Crazy in the Y. Wouldn't really have that on my radar as a risk but it totally is.

0630 LCC snake line up wasn’t too bad. Hang out eating donuts. Paid parking for the “Hector”.

The 2nd, 4th and 5th photos are great Triple Z! They really put your write up in perspective. I'm many of us (myself definitely included) have been that situation and made the exact same decision(s) as you; don't be to hard on yourself bud.

Why can’t the road pattern be both/all lanes downhill between 3-5p? Alta on the right and Snowbird on the left.

I mean, I don’t mind my post-ski locker room vibe at the PDog until 6:30p when the road finally loosens up, but wow, this weekend (Thursday - Sunday) was tough even before the snow started falling…

Thanks for the write up ZZZ. glad everyone came home! Like others have said, it happens to the best of us and it's easy to get off track and into a bad situation in a whiteout or in the dark. I hope your kid is doing okay and not traumatized by the event. one of my skiing partners always says the best way to learn about avalanches is to set off avalanches so hopefully you, and more importantly, your kid will take home the valuable lessons learned yesterday.

Absolutely Z^3, DO NOT be hard on yourself - unfortunately good judgement comes from bad experience in some cases. Glad everyone walked away.

If you want to feel better, just look at me haha.

ZZZ glad you and yours came through ok. Tough weekend for sure. One of the EWG tribe came down BCC in an ambulance on Sunday. Always fun. Two broken back ribs, it turns out. Could have been worse. Stay safe everyone.

Left the Wasatch 10 years ago, fun to be back on a weekday with so much snow and generosity from Beaterdit in finding lift tickets. My kid is trashed.
