Yep I think they’re very aware that it will cripple the entire town, Whistler and blackcomb, parking, traffic etc etc

Anybody have a handle on when the new Red chair is likely to be completed? Lots of news around Creekside but I haven't seen any updates on Red.

The people who think they had first cabin on Excalibur roll over to Excelerator to find they've been beaten there buy some guys that started skinning at 6am instead of just standing in line.

See y'all on the skin track!
I made the grave error of going up on a President's day ages ago (had to have been before "family day" was a thing in BC as I'd never go up on said day and it coincides with President's day). Anyway, the lines were crazy. Maybe others have done same, but I said fuck this shit, and boot packed to mid. Didn't seem to take too long, but then rage is rocket fuel.

who's got an estimate on lot 6 to excel on that route? I might actually consider it to get some exercise instead of standing around getting cold...and to see people get really pissed off when they realize they aren't first! haha

ebike with spiked tires and stash in the trees? Like climbing toward Dark Crystal haha. Seriously though, some exercise instead of hours in line wouldn't be a bad way to start a day. Trying to guesstimate it from a bike ridelog maybe 2.75km/330m vert? Maybe a bit less distance more vert with the "Blackcomb Bench Climb" bit instead of the fire road across the ski runs.

I noticed they are starting the shuttles from Creekside at 7:00 now rather than 8:00 and have stated lifts will be opening at 8:15.

I didn't ski today on Blackcomb but I've been up Whistler the last couple of days.
Good skiing on piste. Snowmakers made good use of the cold temps earlier in the fall to put down a base. WROD conditions though. Only a couple of the main arteries have coverage. Everything else is pretty thin. You can ski to Olympic station via Expressway or Upper Olympic.
Not great coverage off piste. Alpine terrain has spots you can pick through but you'll want to be back on a ski run by the time you get to tree line.

Any word re: Creekside opening date?
Based on the posts below, sounds like it's still going to be a while, yeah?
With new snow coming, and opening this week, I presume that it's going to be a clusterfuck this weekend...

Buchheister still anticipates an early-December opening for Big Red and says the resort has "a shot" at finishing the Gondola by the holidays.

I'm sure this doesn't mean too much, but the WB website says Raven's Nest will open on December 15, so maybe that's an indication of when they hope to get the gondola running.

Lots of people on the few runs available
Couple laps on Horstman glacier w good pow in sheltered areas, wind affected in others.
Schmoo anywhere lower than the glacier
Summer did some serious damage to the glaciers

Nice day! Skinned for a couple of short pow laps in the alpine. The sun came out. Good times all around.
Red chair was testing their diesel engine today and was turning with all the chairs on the line.
