Which BC ski area had the lift shack fire/sabotage? I'm planning a guy's trip to Red & Whitewater, I don't think it was either of those.

Either way, I'd imagine it is fixed now?

    Holy shit.

That is all I have to say about today.

Translation: Terrible. Too much snow, can't make any turns; nothing's groomed; too steep; wind blew out all my tracks so I can't see where I went; no one bothered to show up, can't rest my legs in a liftline.

Nobody showed up? That's the surprise takeaway from your post.

I keep making excused for why I don't get out and I think you might have just nuked them.... for the better.

The biggest lines were when everyone was funneled into the Tbar when blue stalled for 3 hours and red was delayed, and red for the hour that summit was open and not completely windfucked.

By that I mean the only lines.

It was a solid opening day at Fernie today. Excellent coverage, and not very busy (I didn't get there until after lunch).

This showed up in my inbox. Good chance spots are taken, but thought I would share on the off chance they are not. Always wanted to go. Both folks have to be acc members, but that’s a small hurdle

How is the Lake skiing at the minute? Weighing up a full day over there vs. a swift half at Sunshine this weekend. Is there much coverage on the backside?

    limited terrain open at both.

backside has boomerange adn saddleback open. thats about it.

SSV Divide / GE closed. limited black/fun terrain at SSV

but skiing is MUCH better than not skiing

I would say Castle/Fernie should be on your radar or going to the Kicking horse/Pano opening day, but that would be 'terrible' and you shouldn't go.

Castle was good today. Super windy so only got 2 runs on red due to wind closures, and you can feel the old surface(/moguls) once you're about 1/3 of the way down the mountain.... but found some really deep pockets of wind sift(/slab) and got some quality face shots up high.

Pretty good coverage for this early.

The north road Traverse is peppered with wind thrown gravel, however... that was the only damage I did to my skis today.

Great skiing at Fernie right now, almost all the terrain is open expect for Polar, but I saw the chair running late in the day, so who knows, maybe it will open soon too? Boom chair is broken and it might be another week or two before the part comes, so Cedar laps require you to take Cedar trail back to the Elk.

Thanks for the heads up, played it safe and got over to SSV, midweek storm has improved things nicely - Divide now open and Standish no longer skiing like a rock garden.
