I'll be doing pretty much the same. But, I may hit up rope drop in Ag bowl. I'm short Purple jacket black pants with cuffs rolled up. Even short inseams are long for me. Blue Dakine Backpack.

You're welcome.

Hey, looking for some info, used to hit up Bachelor every spring but haven't been in almost a decade, time to get back. Plan is first or second week of April, looks like Oregon school break is the last week of March. So thinking it should relatively quiet after that except weekends. Anyone confirm this? Hoping for earlier in April to maximize the chance of getting snow. I think lower mountain bike trails should also be good by then as well so will be bringing the bikes.
yepper
We were up there first week of April last year and that was kind of how it went, but it was actually busy during the week because we got hit with a storm that brought up dry/thirsty Californikons. Also by then Willamette, Ashland and Hoodoo had all closed so that also made things extra busy on the pow days. It was semi busy on the no new snow weekend, semi busy on the ultra deep Monday pow day with only Red Chair running, but Tuesday with bluebird pow and no wind was kind of a zoo/junkshow and a ton of CA and WA plates were in the parking lot - my wife did complain about lines that day (I was on kid duty). Mountain bike trails below green gate were awesome, definitely solid for 2 sport days if you were staying in town or camping well below snow level (we were in the RV spots on mountain). Ski shops had already started clearing inventory and what was left was decently discounted. But of course the sunny weather meant that the breweries with outside space were ultra slammed (Crux, Worthy, etc).
The real bitch of it was that lift tickets were still like $160!

Many WA schools have their break around then and a lot of people head to Bachelor. My school district is the 2nd week of April. We were planning to go, but wife changed plans.
Last year they had a spring pass that started early April and had unlimited skiing for ~$250. That helps if you don't have an Ikon.
Probably won’t need to worry about the CA people this year given they have all the snow. And we are planning on buying the spring pass, so lift ticket prices won’t hurt (as much). Thinking we will still aim for earlier in April to hopefully get better snow. Can’t be as bad crowds as Whistler which is where we have been for the last few years.
In this quirky climate we now live in, earlier is not always better. Mt Brokenchair experienced a drought last March until mid-April, then it started snowing until the resort closed the day before Memorial Day
Also don’t come during Rendezvan which is mid-April. Unless you like crowds
Phatty is correct about the WA school spring break effect.
Lots of midweek passes sold to Bachelor.
First storm day in awhile will be as crowded as a normal non-holiday weekend.
That being said, crowds wouldn’t turn me away. Other than Xmas and the big holiday weekends. Traffic on those days wouldn’t be worth the hassle unless you come up early and go down early.
Eastern Sierra Skier came through clutch and grabbed the skis for me in the Bachelor parking lot and delivered to me in Seattle today! Huge thanks and thanks to all the mags who offered help. Love this community we have. My wife and kids were shocked that someone I'd never spoken to until today would do that for me.
Skied Bachelor Mon & Tue, with Tuesday being one of the best days I've had this season.
Monday at 10:00 a.m. It had just started to snow. Took one run, couldn't see and was bottoming out on old snow. Not fun. Went back to the truck and hung out.
Two hours later it had snowed enough that I went back out and ended up storm skiing for the rest of the day as it got deeper and deeper. As shown by the pic of my truck, the place was empty and no one on the hill. It was dumping by the time I left Monday so the decision to stay another day was easy.
Got in the Pine Martin line early on Tuesday with the stoke factor running high. Ski patroller came by and made an announcement
"Congratulations on being here today. This is some of the best snow quality we've had this season. Be advised, it's deep out there.
Should be open in 20 minutes with Outback to follow. Northwest should open this afternoon." F#@K Yeah!!
First ride up Pine Martin.
Did one quick lap back down to the bottom and then lapped Outback for the next couple hours. Super fun with 2ft+ of blower pow.
NW opened just after noon. Spent the rest of the day there.
More NW. Each lap I traveresed out a little farther and found fresh lines til closing.
At times the singles line at NW looked bad, but it really wasn't. The lifties had a good system going. They were pulling from the singles line to fill every chair, and after each row would go, the lifty would pull 4 singles from each side so the line moved fairly quickly. This line was 6 to 7 minutes at the most and totally worth it imo. Good organization gentlemen!
One of those days that you wish you had more pictures from, but the snow's so good you don't want to stop to take them.
Nicely timed! Thanks for the pics!
Yeah vis was an issue at times but man was that fun.
