Yesterday was a great late start, noon to five, corn harvest. Snow didn’t get sticky. Zero lift lines. Lots of fun in the sun.

Oregon 2022/2023 Triple Nina Winter Season

Short midweek trip to Anthony Lakes for local Thursday. Dinner Wednesday evening at the Haines Steakhouse with the world famous Chuckwagon Salad Bar. Comfortable stay at the North Powder Motel. Quirky and dated but clean and close to the hill. Came with a free half gallon of kimchi courtesy of owner Kim.

10” of fresh over a soft base, 15f and bluebird. Enjoyed with 100 people. Great day.

The first eight runs were like cat skiing. No tracks crossed unless you chose to.

Was there two weeks ago for local Thursday on a foot of heavy goo and rime ice.

Heard Haines Steakhouse went to hell since the pandemic. Nice to hear that isn’t the case

No crowds at Bachy today. I got the lucky double 1 this morning. Hit chair #1 on Red when I rolled up at 9:15am, and then hit chair #1 on Outback. Bought a lotto ticket.

Snowing modestly until about noonish, and then the flakes started to get bigger. All in all, a good day on the local hill.

I’ve been lucky twice now at AL. Last year was the same as lasts Thursday but 2/17/22. I had been watching the storm track closely. It’s 4.5 hours to North Powder from home. Easy striking distance for storm chasing

Haines Steakhouse is classic rural west “nice restaurant”. Have no expectations and it’ll be good. It’s similar to “The Brass Rail” basque restaurant in Alturas.

Haines steakhouse was good but not great. I'm spoiled from my own beef.

Insanely flat light at Meadows today, particularly on Cascade. Weird vertigo skiing down Arena: is the snow in front of me going up or down?

    Nice shot as always
Yup definitely skied well in protected areas
Should be getting some major dumpage tonight thru Friday.

Question for the snow scientists - looking at the NOAA hourly forecast for Mt B, if I divide the rain forecast in a period by the predicted snowfall for same period, wouldn’t the quotient be moisture content of snow?

Because if yes, we are looking at 7-8% snow coming in tonight…

    Skibowl is closing on 4/9.

If only they could get more people in the lift lines late in the season. Lots of snow still in the forecast and so much corn to be in harvested in The Outback.

Looking good out there. Maybe the stars align and I can get some leftovers later today. Or better yet some refills. Enjoy powder hounds.

Was swimming in the ocean yesterday... dead tired but can't miss this. About to head on out. Maybe I'll get lucky and be there when lower canyon pops. 😀

I've been looking for a closing date and the best I can find on Skihood was pond skim on 4/29. Should we expect bonus weekends throughout May?
