I think people Monday will be pinned down by the wind. Kinda like last Sunday where only Sunrise, Alpenglo and Little Pine ran
Looking like a dump Monday night as well, with some clearing Tuesday

Seems like people are touring upper bowl before lift are running. Anyone knows if skibowl is ok with this now? Looking to take advantage of the easy/safe access on Tuesday morning

TLine has everything going except Normans.
Wind gusts have been under 60, the direction, 250ish, isn't usually a lift closer

I'm out in Aspen this week, so you guys can thank me later for the pow that you're all about to receive!

It's kind of a 2 fer deal, with a decent amount of snow to fall here over the next few days as well.

    No it sure wasn't.

It was windy, but the talk was that MHM cheaped out and sent people home. Then when wind moderated mid/late morning, they had no staff to man lifts.
I don't know if that's true - but the Sunday a week ago was WAY, WAY, WAY worse; Wind, vis etc.

    SMH

[To be clear, I was there. I couldn't believe they didn't run. Not even Blue or Daisy. Didn't even try.]

    Telemetry was showing 60mph gusts
I wonder if it was not calibrated
Strange to just shut em down otherwise

I think the data speaks for itself.

Wind Min / Avg / Gust
    02/13 19:00 11 28 49
    02/13 18:00 10 27 48
    02/13 17:00 4 21 55
    02/13 16:00 5 21 43
    02/13 15:00 6 29 50
    02/13 14:00 12 27 48
    02/13 13:00 7 24 44
    02/13 12:00 10 26 46
    02/13 11:00 15 32 53
    02/13 10:00 11 30 55
    02/13 09:00 8 31 59
    02/13 08:00 7 28 48

I can kind of see a problem with the 4/5/6a and even 8-9a hour periods.

    But 10a on?
    Average wind-speed of 20-30mph?
    Gusts in the 40s?

    Really?

I’m not defending the lift status, and I see that the 60s ended around 8a

Just going from 9a-5p: four of the hour periods had gusts in the 50s & four had gusts in the 40s, with only two below 45mph

45 ain’t the greatest for swinging in the chairs, just my 2c
But, as you say, maybe they made the call early and just had to deal with it from there

Any Mags going between Bend/Seattle area soon? Have a pair of skis in Bend that the seller doesn't want to ship. PM me if you are able to help.

Could be the best $49 I’ve ever spent on a lift ticket. Visibility made it interesting until it got dark enough for the lights to create shadows but it was face shot city.

    Hey dude,
I'm on the way up to visit my Mom on Whidbey Island and skiing along the way. I skied Bach today (Mon) and it was deep enough at closing that I'm back out there on Tuesday. My plan is to ski til around 2:00, then get on the road. I'll be taking the 5 North thru Seattle up to Mukilteo and catch the ferry over to the Island. If your along that route I'll be happy to bring them with me and we can meetup somewhere. My cell is muted while I'm skiing, so text me (775) 224-9755 and I will get back to you. If I don't hear from you I"ll assume you made other plans.
    Cheers,
    Christian

They didn't chicken out on a Sunday with peak gusts at above 70.

And there wasn't a *single* hour on 2/5 where the average wind-speed was lower than ANY single hour yesterday - during scheduled ops.
(The slowest single hour wind-speed avg on 2/5 was ~38. The largest hourly average from yesterday was ~32mph.)

And wind direction was very largely the same - with 10-15 degrees further toward north at the end of the day on 2/5.

    Yes, I'm grumpy.
Yesterday was just crazy. I don't know why they decided it was too scary, but if they ran 2/5, not running yesterday is pretty unexplainable - at least due to wind.

Wow! It’s so deep at Bach that I felt
“under-gunned” pole wise after 3 runs and had to run to the truck and swap out for a fatter set up. 2ft+ of blower pow.

    I wish.
Had a prior commitment to a client, so I'm on client site today.
If I'd known they were going to be such chickens, I'd have swapped today for yesterday.

    Sigh. First world problems, eh?

I'll be up tomorrow, though I'll be skiing the AM with my wife.
(She's not a balls-to-the-wall, "this may end badly, but looks so fun; lets try it" kind of skiier.)

Up for laps in the afternoon though.
(Guy in the green jacket, yellow Peips backback. Often nuking Face or One bowl.)
    Or PM me.
