WARNING!!!!! If you're riding Roundhouse at lease some of the seat covers are gone--leaving a nice, wet foam sponge to sit on. Dress accordingly.

Idk. It's fine. I figure if they don't want people to come, they'll close the ski hills. Getting news out about the supermarkets is useful. As a touron myself, 2 of the 3 SLT markets I know are closed and they're usually weekend shitshows. I'd bring all my food, as usual - I'm here to ski not shop.
KW is reminding their residents what they already know, and potentially warning a few tourons to make sure they get out before the passes close. KW regulars know the drill.
Methinks the residential collapses are mainly sensationalist news, unless you're living in that building, then it's a disaster. Summer is high season, so there should be sufficient tourist lodging now.
The local governments probably want fewer people around, or want them more prepared. Plow guys are slammed. Plows run behind in some areas. Some neighborhood roads were going a few days without a plow (weeks in San Berdoo ). Some are icy. Others too narrow to pass. Occasional berms block streets. Rain this last week helped a lot in lower elevations. OTOH, the local business is tourism so come on up?
The KMart poster last week offended some regulars, but accurately described many of the flatland visitors... Folks in this thread are more likely to help than need help (those who scotchguarded their jeans back in the day know about snow now)

There may be reasons not to visit the south shore as in general they seem to be suffering more from a roads/infrastructure standpoint and Heavenly's complete inability to get their shit open.
The north/west shores have their shit on point (sort of, kind of). YMMVLast edited by powdork; 03-16-2023 at 03:54 AM.

Chalky spring goodness indeed.
Like cream cheese on toast. Very smooth and nice where it did not get skied on Tuesday (rainbuff!), a little crusty down lower. No lines when I showed up at 10. Snow seemed to get better as it warmed up some. Highlights - East bowl, 75 chute, kids still sending and punching through the crust.

Must be a car that got dug out just enough to drive dangerously.

I have an old Jambay tape where they jokingly riff about playing an epic one chord jam with leftover salmon for 45 minutes.

I was more of a fan of Inna Godda Davida (sp?) myself.
More crowded today. Word that the mountain is skiable must have gotten out.
And btw, I wonder how much manpower it takes to run the base to base gondola at Palisades. Especially after a storm. Inclduing rebuilding the cattrack to the mid station. There were 3 grooming machines parked there today. Seems like resources could be better spent.Last edited by old goat; 03-16-2023 at 04:01 PM.
