We did a lot of thinking about lake crossing from on high. Specifically how unbelievably fk'd you'd be if you broke thru in skis and ski boots as you wouldn't even have a prayer to live. And we decided that with 4' of snow bridging the weight below us we'd be OK on this particular day.

As for the wobble tracks on the lake, we couldn't figure it out either - not why or how somebody put those down.

The last few days at PTOV were a blast. KT was skiing well for this time of year. Headwall finally opened and now just waiting for the new Red Dog and Silverado to get the green light. FWIW, Resort Chair is really like your own resort chair...took my kids over there for a few laps on Monday and we found cut up, non-moguled pow on Strainer as well as corduroy piste at 1:30pm. No, I didn't ride the gondola.

I was asking about the wobble tracks.

I’d probably had skied across the lake with the assumption that it was fairly frozen before the last storms and the weight of a few skiers pales compared to the weight of all that snow, even though the snow weight is spread across the ice. I’m open to learn more if I’m thinking about that risk wrong.

Looking for any good hut trip beta. Going in next week and have the basics. Just wondering what makes a trip even better.

They also usually have the cheapest gas in town lately. Just beware the single beer prices they are always wrong in their favor

I think we're carrying in bear skin rugs and a projector, the way the forecast looks.

Well I went to road runner and chevron again this year where I bought them for years but for like the last 3 years they didn’t have em and said they had no ideal if they would get em. Pisses me off that I have to pay a $5 convenience fee to some company in New Jersey last I looked to buy a California sno park pass. I’ll buy one locally if California gets there shit together next year when I need a pass.

KT had great chalk today, all over. 75, West Face, Nore to Alternates, Oly Chair-line, East Face, Tom's Tumble, pretty much anything. The chalk was softening as the day went on. Monster moguls all over.

BTW, what is the latest thinking for the incoming AR? Rain all over and then gradually dropping snow levels? How much snow will we get at the base? They say it's going to be really windy and wet on Tuesday.

    I saw rain/snow level forecasts at 7500-8500'.

I'm going to Monterey, bringing a mountain bike...

If you mean the base of Palisades BA is saying 4-8" but it's way out so that could be way off, or spot on but it doesn't turn to snow until well after opening. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go over 9k on Tuesday and the winds should close everything not raining anyway. Wednesday seems like it could be good at upper elevation wind sheltered spots like stagecoach, sierra and simliar bc spots, even if only for a small portion of the day. I doubt any of that will remain constant as it gets closer.

yea, I'm seeing generally 5' of snow over 8K and 2"-4' between 6000 and 8000 ft. Looks windy Tuesday and Wednesday. Likely closures, too bad for the teams kids.

This is one of those storms that can swing so much based on a degree or two - pretty difficult to forecast snow line levels until Monday IMO.

Looks like some fresh creamed butter will fall upon our lands. Should build the base and repair the snowhoars.
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

Something about ski resort bar scenes and covid spreading, was right at the beginning of the pandemic, right?
In pic of Coop on stage at event, only saw one mask. But a few kids there.
