It actually feels weird that it's not snowing

Carson City is open game now. Got back this week from visiting family, saw the coverage and figured that Kings Canyon would be good to go. Sure enough there was 2-3 ft of solid snowpack at the trailhead, and the parking lot was plowed out. Heading up the FS road coverage got incredibly better about a mile up the road. Took the road a bit past the Ash to Kings trailhead, then broke off and followed a ridge to a broad flat table. There was another 800 ft of vert, but daylight was waning. Some cornices had even formed at about 7400 ft.
Ski down was one of the better quality ski days I've had this season. Snow was soft on the north facing side of the ridge, seems like any wind crust that may have been present got faceted with overnight cold temps. Holding to the right aspect, snow was soft down to about 6200 ft when a thin melt-freeze crust showed up. Enough coverage to ski all the way back to the car.
There is nothing better than logging 2k vert and epic views of Job's within a 5 minute drive from the house. If any Carson or Reno locals are around, I'll be at the Kings Canyon trailhead tomorrow morning at about 9ish.

Today capped off 4 days of very fine quality skiing for me. I'm sore and tired and happy. East wind affected things a bit last night but seemed like some areas got kinda blown in and bufffed and other zones got a bit scoured. Comet bumps skiing great in the afternoon FWIW.
From earlier today, what a view!

So where do you go to get the windspeed and direction from yesterday?
There's this: https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/rev/avalanche/
but it cuts off at 1700 hours for some reason and reading direction is really hard on a graph vs a table.Even sometimes when I'm snowboarding I'm like "Hey I'm snowboarding! Because I suck dick, I'm snowboarding!" --Dan Savage

Go to NWS home page, click on the Tahoe area on the map to get the Reno office, scroll down and click on thumbnail lower left for mountain observations

That's where I was looking around since I remembered something in there. It's a few more steps than clicking the thumbnail, but made it to this: https://www.wrh.noaa.gov/rev/remotedata/textremote.php

The mountain top data has always been spotty. I just look at a different mountain.
Generally speaking, when the mountain top data suddenly cuts out, it's pretty windy.

Anybody have recent beta on the Mt Rose Chutes? I wonder how badly the Evil E fucked the snow up there.
