My Pro Ski Bum Tour of North America 22/23

I skied Sunday River today and met the perfect subject. Did I get her story? No. Sometimes skiing is better than messing with cameras. I’ll get the full story later with her, her hubby and possibly the seven year old. Kick ass skier. Perhaps 80 days a year makes one a kick ass skier. She met her hubby skiing, got engaged skiing and honeymooned skiing.

Shot some POV trying to get the hang of little cameras with two buttons and a lens that has a range of focal length from wide to widest. Did drive through some weather on 16 by Pinkham Notch. Localized phenom, no snow elsewhere around here to the best of my knowledge. Loon tomorrow, Cannon Thurs, So VT Friday. Editor working on stuff.

Trailer #1. (Many prefer this one. I don’t know, I still wonder why I’m in front of the camera rather than being behind the camera pointing it at someone who likes to be in front of the camera

    https://youtu.be/8aqOvWr2TZo

    New stuff soon, including skiing

One more thing: a better title would have been Semi Pro Dirtbag Skibum Tour. My “two ton two person tent on wheels” is the least equipped van of any I’ve run across

Anybody heard from CharlesJ lately? I skied with him at Stratton on the storm day (Friday) and he was heading for the upstates (Alfred) to visit family.

My Pro Ski Bum Tour of North America 22/23

    First episode here:b

Sorry, no skiing in it. Next week skiing. Had fun making some turns with Skinipenem and Skinipenem Jr at Killington, Jhyatt at Cannon and MNIAW at Stratton. Did a mediocre job shooting footage. As much as I like working with cameras, it’s actually more fun to ski. In a couple weeks I’ll be back in New England and I will better document the skiing experience with the mags of the east.

Skied some runs at Sunday River with a young woman who met her hubby skiing, got engaged skiing and honeymooned skiing. She gets in 80 days a year. I could keep up but it wasn’t a cake walk.

Still trying to figure out the production/skiing balance. I like working with cameras, I love skiing. Will get some Western NY hills in next

So zigging and zagging between the midwest, Western NY and New England. Looking forward to getting back to the mountains of VT, NH & ME.

Skiing at Killington with Skinipenem and Skinipenem Jr (on his way to being a bad ass skier like his dad)

JHyatt at Cannon. I share his fondness for a mountain that is under appreciated by people who prefer the nearby mountain with the 8 person heated chair

MNIAW and Brian at Stratton. That was a week ago when SoVT was the place to be in the east. Almost crossed paths with MNIAW 40some years ago racing in what was Div II west (NY State)

Bump for my worst ukulele playing and skiing ever.

Bump for existential conversation generations apart.

    Bump for icy tailgating.

Bump for questionable 360 cam editing that will surely improve.

Bump for titties... oops wrong thread.

I hope they get a little bit better each time. There is a delay between the skiing and the post production. Yes, i ramble. No, I don’t write anything. I do know one Notch from another in NH, even if the edit is ambiguous. On my way to SLC now. Will return eastward when the snow returns

I think it’s the alternator at least maybe more. I am in Fort Morgan. Had I known that this town smelled so bad would’ve gone to Greeley

You can't escape the smell in that stretch, it smells everywhere around there. Once the van's fixed where you headed?

Ended up in Steamboat for the first time. Spent the day skiing with a competent former Hoosier who took me to some steep trees with fresh powder. A local was disappointed because the snow wasn’t lighter, I was relieved it wasn’t heavier as the temps were pretty warm last night. Not a great day for shooting video but I tried. Was I smart enough to grab some stills? Nope. My knees (even the good one) told me to stop but my brain and heart overruled the joints.

The upper parking lot fills up very early so that necessitated a gondola to get to the gondola from the lower lot. That delayed things a bit. Other than that bottleneck the crowds weren’t outrageous for a Saturday with fresh snow.

Going to SLC soon then north to ID, MT, WY possibly AB. Need to do some figuring with weather and distance factors

I hope it was something as simple as an alternator.

Laughing that you ended up in the stinky stretch at Ft.Morgan.

From the Boat west to SLC via Vernal is a beauty drive unless it's a blizzard.

Which you want, but not until, like, Duchesne.

Nice. A Wasatch episode of your series wouldn't be complete without an SFB appearance.
