    Ripstick Tour series

Thoughts? Seems interesting enough for their own thread. Not a whole lot of chatter about them from their early release last season.

    Ripstick Tour series

I’ve had Ripstick 96 Blacks and the Ripstick 106 regular. Liked em. But prefer skis that like a more centered stance. The Tour 104 has a further forward mount at -6cm, so I’d probably like them even more.
Have thought of this ski with an ATK for my light tour set-up.

Would also like to hear more about these.

The 104 tour looks really cool and different from any other elan. Much straighter sidecut, longer radius and more progressive mount. The other skis in the tour series are different shapes and much less interesting

Yeah, it looks great and I love the sorbet colorway. There's a pair of 180's sitting in my basement waiting for snow . . .

Agree on all points, except I don’t have a free pair.

    Ripstick Tour series

Well dang, I’m a Ripstick Tour owner. Got a code at Snowcountry.eu ....if you bought 3 items....I needed some ATKs, a narrowish touring ski, and a groomer ski for my wife.

I'll get hit with CDN GST/PST taxes, and a big shipping bill, but I'm happy with their prices for new 2023 stuff. I've bought from Snowcountry.eu before and its product arrives in Canada in 4 days. I'm really looking forward to the Ripstick Tours. I've owned the Ripstick 96 Blacks and 106 Regulars before. Was gonna go sub-100mm for my narrower touring ski with ATKs but pretty happy at 1,550 gm per ski for these.

^^^ nice haul. You might want the toe shim for your ATK's. Reduces the heel/toe drop to 7mm, same as STH2.

Hmmm. Don’t know much about ATK? Where do you source a toe shim?

Guess I better read the ATK thread.

Read 1/3 of the ATK thread. Only 1,000 more posts to go. Toe shims ordered and on the way from skimo for the ATK FR 14s. Thanks.

Skis arrived yesterday. They’re beautiful. Even though the skis are backwards in the pic.

A friend of mine just turned her DPS wailers in to ride the more traditional Ripstick 88. She is a former ski racer from MN and now rides them as her all mountain in the Front Range. They seem zippy and responsive. I would place them around the Enforcer 90 and Rustler 9 in terms of how much joy she gets from them.

I would be curious to know the actual length vs the stated length. Thanks

Blister measured 187 cm to be 184.3 cm. My pair looks to be the same length as my 185 cm E100.

I’ll measure the 180cm this week. They look shorter than my 180cm Revolt 104s.

    For Ripstick Tour 104:
    - 170.9 for the 173 cm
    - 177.6 for the 180 cm

Measured as the projection onto a flat surface (top view).

Length confirms at ~177.6cm for straight pull on the 180cm.

Also can confirm the rec mount is approx. -6cm. Plan is for yellow ATK 14s going on these with a 102mm brake.

Pic below shows the Ripstick Tour against a 180cm Volkl Revolt for length comparison.

I am also interested in the Ripstick Tour 104.

Based on the reviews I have seen, it seems like the relatively soft shovels have been an issue for some people. It seems like a potential issue in breakable crust or when the skier has very forward leaning stance. Definitely seems like directional skiers that like to lean forward should consider mounting back from the recommended line.

I tried the 104 for a single backcountry lap last weekend. Small sample size but conditions ranged from icy windboard, old cold pow, to punchy sun crust. I normally ski the blizzard 105 and the ripstick tour felt like it got deflected less in variable snow and still held an edge quite well on the firm snow. Overall the two skis weren’t all that different but the ripstick tours were a bit less demanding when finishing turns in punchy snow. I had the recommended mount point for both skis and the ripstick felt like it was a more forward mount point. Mounting the 104s -1cm could be good for those who like a more traditional mount point.

Overall it seemed like a solid touring ski.

Thanks, good info. Thinking I’m just gonna mount mine. Will report back after I ski them.

Anyone get on the Tour 94? I'm thinking they could be a good PNW spring ski.

Yep. Wildsnow did a review, without going into much detail, saying it skied very well on all conditions. I haven't tried the MTN 95 but I know it has a good reputation, I'm surprised they've replaced it.

Anyways, the 94 ticks all the boxes I'm looking for in ~95mm touring stick. Medium sidecut, not featherweight, small amount of tip taper, moderate amount of tail rocker. The -7.5 mount will be a little more center mounted than I'm used to, but I think that will be fine for just touring. The Euro sites have great deals on them which makes it even sweeter.
