    FS: Five.Ten Hellcat and Specialized bike shoes 9.5

    Anyone have any thoughts on whether you are giving up any grip using flats w a SPD compatible 5/10 sole? Seem to be reading they can be used w either pedal type but maybe I’m being misled by the internet again. Seems Ill advised to give up any surface grip.

    I've been using another pair of those same Hellcat shoes on my flat pedals, with no SPD cleats installed, and never felt I needed more grip. However, I am an aging dental professional riding xc-ish trails so your needs may differ. There is a cutout for the cleat, but most pedals don't have pins in that area anyway. Pics of the soles below:

    Ok. Looking at my existing treads seems that area of the sole not near as worn as other areas of the tread. PM sent on the Hellcats.
