What to do in Tucson (Oct17-21)
Coming down to Tucson from Canuckistan for a conference Oct17-21. Won’t be bringing a bike, limited to shorter hikes, trail runs, drives, evenings, maybe one day off. Good Mexican food or breweries? Best place to check out some big cactus? Thanks!

I am not usually one to visit museums. I was really impressed with the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. Definitely worth checking out. Tuscon mountain park is nearby great trails to run and plenty of big cactus. Have fun.

BTW the Desert Museum is more of a zoo than a museum.

We hiked in the Tuscon mountains and it was a great hike.
Then eat a Sonorah dog.
Sit by the pool.
We went this time of year a few years back. I of course visited breweries but I don't remember anything that really stood out. There's probably better ones now.

1. Rent bike,
2. Ride up Mt. Lemmon...past the ski station...all the way to the top,
3. Stop at Summerhaven - buy cookie, eat cookie,
and
4. Ride back down at >50mph.It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.

I thought the Titan Missile Museum was well worth a visit.

When I lived in Tucson--early 80's, the Pima County air museum was pretty cool. You could have a WWII plane, like a B17, explained to you by guys who flew in them in combat. Alas, not any more.

Seis Kitchen for Mexican food. A bit more high end / expensive than typical taco shop but excellent food. https://www.seiskitchen.com/lunch-and-dinner-menus
Agree on Saguaro National Park for big cactus. If you happen to be on the north side of town or up towards Oro Valley, then Catalina State park or 50 Year trail system would also be good for hikes and cactus. And probably better scenery with Mt Lemmon as a backdrop.

We used to go to a place in South Tucson for chimichangas. I've spent my life seeking chimis as good as those and strudel as good as my grandmothers. Most places don't fry the chimis enough--they should be crispy--and a lot of places throw rice and beans and shit in with the chile colorado, which is all I want in mine,
