There are many reasons why there were 13 original colonies, not 14. Currently in Delray Beach listening to neighbors claim how many hurricanes they have endured, stolen valor since landfall is a few hundred miles west. I will never understand why anyone moves here. Utter shite

This happens over and over and lull’s people into thinking they will hunker down for the next one. Many don’t realize that enduring a hurricane where the eye wall is just 10 miles away is very different from going through the eye wall. Or where the surge piles up vs gets pulled out to sea.

It seems like a "12 to 16 foot storm surge" would basically flood the entire state. Not exactly a place with lots of high ground.

Looks like the most current track has it regaining strength once it crosses the Florida peninsula just in time to hang a left right into HHI/Sav.
Neat.
Matthew was a mess, here's hoping that one knocked down all the real bad shit that hadn't been grounded in years. Dorian too.I still call it The Jake.

Point of order: Florida succeeded from the Union before Georgia did. Can’t get more rebel than that.

I hear you, I'm just dealing with modern times, and really, as BoltonOutlaw points out, colonial times. The South isn't what it was in Civil War era; rebel doesn't make you Southern. As long as I've been alive it's been the South, and separately, Florida. (Texas has similar issues too, imho)
Florida is its own entity. Poor Georgia was just a buffer colony to keep the Spanish and debtor hordes at bay. Nowadays it's there to serve as the major metro for 1/4 of the country, and again, to serve as a buffer for everyone else from what is in Florida.
You're all welcome.I still call it The Jake.

At one point, he reportedly asked about using nuclear bombs to diffuse a hurricane. In fairness, this idea was a variation of a tactic that had worked quite successfully, um, in the original Sharknado movie.

Don't forget using a Sharpie to modify the NOAA path projection map.
