I have batteries to store electricity (2 Tesla powerwall). Those that didn't have storage batteries had a hard time after the storm passed as it remained cloudy for several days afterwards, which obviously limits power production.

Sounds like you're doing okay all things considered. Good luck.

Meanwhile, Gaston is still out there spinning, moving grradually west and looking for warmer water. Worth keeping half an eye on in the Northeast. And then there's Ian, pretty much anything's possible there.

Lots of damage in those coastal communities.

Last I heard, the entire province of PEI was without power.
I saw pictures of entire sections of power poles blown over in Nova Scotia.
Newfoundland lost houses to the ocean.

I'm pretty far inland and just had a very windy day. I spent 5 hours cleaning up my mountain bike trails.

Without batteries I thought solar panels are in-useable as there’s no way to deliver the correct amount of power to the house?

I lived in Scituate from pre-school to 6th grade and then every summer after. Fifth Avenue just up the road from Rocky Beach. The Irish Riviera. The party’s we had in Sand Hills back in the 70’s and 80’s were nuts. Bonfires were normal every weekend.

Shit we need Frankie back to see what happened in Nova Scotia!

Neufox you just need an inverter to convert the solar DC to AC, they're not expensive.

Greater South Dorchester Extended we'd call it sometimes. Takes in Hingham, Cohasset, Scituate, Marshfield, etc.

Scituate isn’t the Irish riviera. That’s Dorchester down to Weymouth.

    But you “summered” there.

    Hurricane 2022

11pm et update shifts it back to Tampa as a major. The further N it gets the more likely it gets ripped apart by shear. Man, if it comes close to Tampa with the wind blowing surge N into Tampa Bay the city is FUCKED.

Lots of uncertainty in track and intensity.

Ya okay, Scituate is the heart of the Irish Riverira. And you might want to check out just how lower middle class Fifth Ave was back in my day. We grew up with very little money in a cold ass salt box. Summer was awesome for sure, living there in winter and spring was another story.

They shut the park down yesterday, not taking any chances this far north.

How can it be a riviera if you are stuck there year round?

Oh. Yeah. You were the working stiffs.

Well looking more and more like Tampa gets hit by at least a glancing blow. If it goes as predicted right to the N of the bay with the East side of the storm pushing water straight into the Bay this is going to be a really really bad storm. I didn’t realize that metro Tampa has almost 3 times the people as metro New Orleans until today.

It looks bad (and is really going to suck for a lot of people), but not as bad compared to many of the scenarios shown in the nhc storm surge risk maps for Tampa Bay. Forecasted inundation looks to be between their cat 1 and cat 2 extend/severity.

Noaa was considering putting one of their facilities at the airport there and chose not to because of the flood risk and the risk of not being able to access for facility in the case of severe flooding.

Gotta be a rough morning in western Cuba. Good luck to them.

I guess Frankie made it through Fiona in good shape, he's moved on to Ian.

This fucker is tracking right for my grandmas old condo. She died a few years ago luckily and my dad got rid of her place.

    Attachment 427780

1st floor condo less than 50 ft from the water. So close that it’s actually illegal to build there now.

It’s now shifting south. If it keeps tracking south it may just hit the Everglades.
