Hole in raft: will it patch?
Have the opportunity to inherit a raft. Problem is, it has a huge hole in it. Will it patch?

Yes. Anything can be patched.
I wouldn’t buy it, but it sounds like it’s free.
Patch it and ride like the wind.

that's not a hole. that's a tear. multiple tears actually and yer tear is crossing taped seams... gonna need an inside/outside patch at least, probably gonna need some stiches too. then the seam tape will need redoin'. more and better pictures will be needed for a proper diagnosis of needed repairs.
where on the boat is this tear located?
how many chambers does the tear cross?
do the remaining chambers hold air reliably?
how was this caused?
how old is the raft?
brand?
pvc or rubber?
how many other patches/pinhole leaks on this tub?
do you have plenty of the right glue and patch material? (that shit ain't cheap and yer gonna need a bunch of it)

this is right under the front rocker.
not sure on the chambers. i'll try to inflate it tomorrow and see.
guy thought he could go over one of those water diversion things that ranchers put in. he could not. some of the dumbest shit I have ever heard.
raft is 3 or 4 years old.
NRS.
pvc.
no other damage on the raft. tears occurred on her 3rd trip.
as far as repair materials go, I have none. like i said, not sure i'm gonna take him up on the offer. he also has a 13ft Avon that has been sitting for a few years. no damage or repairs. sounds like any potential repair of the NRS would be costly and time consuming so i'll probably just save up for the avon and buy it when i can.swing your fucking sword.

nrs should still be under their 10 year warranty. raft that young may be worth the repair. more pictures needed
nrs authorized repair shops.

Drifty ain’t it on the beav. Raft is basically mandatory on a lot of the river.

God dam SFB sure hates fishing out of rubber! The real answer is you need both!
I’m on the same page as the others above. While I don’t think NRS would warranty fix that at no-charge, a pro repair would probably get you many more years of good use, especially if it’s not a daily guide rig. Look local, and if someone thinks they can fix it well, I wouldn’t hesitate. I’m still running a ‘08 downriver hypalon boat with a couple pro patches from inflatable technologies down in Denver. While nothing the magnitude of what your looking at, the patches they did are now 10 years old and bomber. Rubber can last a really long time if you take care of it and don’t leave it out in the sun all summer.Last edited by jpcmoriarty; 09-22-2022 at 05:20 PM.
