Saw this. Wondering if there is some surf break like a Nazare that could go off. Biggest wave ever ridden looming?

Typhoon Merbok: big-ass storm for western AK

Generally big storms like this produce gigantic surf that breaks miles and miles off shore. Completely unsurfable. I’ve seen 20’ breakers all the way to the horizon on the Oregon coast. Paddling out anywhere in a storm like that is guaranteed death. Big wave surf happens when a big storm hits far away from a big wave surf break and has time to lengthen its swell period (space between waves) as it travels through the ocean. And that scene from Point break was filmed at Indian beach in Ecola st Park in Cannon Beach Oregon on a sunny day. I was there.

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

No swell forecast for Maui north shore this week. I think the Aleutian islands are in the way.
