from the top of the T
The best run both days I was up there was a run I never ski. Called Borderline. It was about 6 cms on a supportable crust, and skied like a dream.
About 90cms at treeline these days. More snow scheduled in a few days. Reports from folks skiing bigger lines in the backcountry was quite varied from wind-fucked to breakable crust to Styrofoam to really good. My ski above the T bar was more of the breakable crust type, as was my venture down the top quarter of hangover. Pretty decent though, all in all, for before mid november.

Northern BC Stoke 2022/2023
Nice to see a happy Masey Gary and I’m glad you got out for some turns despite your temporary status as a working stiff.
I’ll be in Terrace tomorrow for a hearing test in the early afternoon btw.
I’m thinking of giving myself plenty of time to get there, say 7 or so hours. And who knows, I might temporarily lose focus and drive right on through Terrace. And I struggle with finding my way sometimes. A wrong turn or two might find me having to make a U-turn somewhere in order to retrace my steps back to Terrace. The Shames parking lot is probably wide enough for that. And heck, at that point I might as well throw in a quick lap you know what I mean.
You are probably working but let me know if you can join for a lap.

Yo! Jimbo! So way back when I first came to town I ran into Jimbo in the Sibolas in July. And I'm like, hey Jim, I'm on a bit of a ski streak. I got two years in a row of skiing every month. Jim says, "hey me too man, that's awesome". That was back in '96. Well, my streak ended a couple of years later but Jim. Well he keeps on ticking those months in. I love Jim. Thanks for posting this AP. Jim's a god.

Awesome Hutz!
Who was that? Is that Jay in the photo?
Sweet buddy. Yeah it's been nuking at Shames this week. No prob for a Dec 3 opening methinks. That'd be so amazing to have 2 years in a row of 1st week in Dec opening. Damn we love our GM.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

Northern BC Stoke 2022/2023
50 to 70 cm of new snow made for difficult conditions (dare I say, too deep !?!) at HBM yesterday but things settled overnight and it was just perfect today. Fast enough you could ski the flatter sections but deep enough we were able to straight line and bounce from pillow to pillow on Holy Smoke. So, so good.

Sure I could post this in the doggie stoke thread, but I already inundate that thread with Maisie. Anyway, she's stoked.
Josh getting after it in the Dark Side.
Young Luca slarving up the tasty darkness.
Conditions acceptable, though my guiding the boys down our new PollyWood area was a complete fail. No photos. Off trail, bushwacking survival ski, absolute type 2 fun. Good thing my buddies like that sort of shit. I think I may be getting to old for it though. Fuck.“I tell you, we are here on Earth to fart around, and don't let anybody tell you different.”

It’s cold af.
So something a bit different- very old school vid done by and showcasing some local og’s.
Fun to see how far we’ve come - but Pelzer and Goss can still ride and Shorter is still tough as nails!

We went up the Silvern Trail and thx. That's a super cool valley. Full of white bark pine and the boulder garden at the bottom is massive and that side of the mountain looks super imposing.

I am certain to hit up Shames this year though Gary. Last year the kids and I did 'chairlift selfies' for everyday we skied. Got to #39 which I thought was pretty good for an 11 & 7 year old. This year's project is to try and hit 10 different resorts and put a sticker from each on our ski box. So Shames is low hanging fruit for that project, and I already bought the sticker when I was in Terrace for my eye exam a month or so ago, so basically, i'm pretty much committed at this point.

Skiing with comedians... I've been trying to come up with something clever to say about this for hours now.

I am finally heading to Shames! Yay!! My partner and I fly out January 24 and we'll be there till January 30. We'll be at Shames Thursday. I have a pair of the 2022 special addition DPS 100RP Pagoda skis and my partner will be on his Prior Overloads.
We plan to also check out the Hankin-Evelyn Ski Area. Just curious how is the road to the Hankin-Evelyn trail head?
Any other spots to check out? Any information would be greatly appreciated

I've seen a 2wd get in but you pretty much need 4wd/snow tires for going into the Hankin

^ya. Evelyn is easy access with 2wd, a bit more of an approach but better skiing IMO.
