That video was hilarious!!!
Big talk for skis that are competing with Atomic Mavericks, Salomon Stance and Armada Declivity skis.
They are a few hundred grams lighter than Enforcers or Brahma/Bonafides so they aren’t going to challenge the bigger fish in the pond anytime soon.
Maybe slightly leaping over the crud performance of the even lighter Ripsticks maybe? Lol

I thought the elk and horse scenes were a nice touch. I really liked the part when Wirth is taking the bridle off the horse and talking about unbridling Bode so he can run free. That’s real class.

Think the Peak 88 still uses the Ripstick 88 mold but the rest are supposed to be new molds. Wider ones still look pretty similar though.

So these aren’t handmade in Montana? Shocking
I’ll wait patiently for my Heritage r99s.

Lol @ that video. Somehow bode didn't get the plaid memo for the board meeting... random elk b roll... generic guitar mandolin soundtrack... the metaphorical unbridling of bode while an actual horse is being unbridled! Run free Bode!!
"We are here to do what has not already been done" so we built (with grit!) a generic line of skis that will appeal to a generic demographic of skiers with a generic CoolSkiTechnology (TM) that will make these skis totally revolutionary! And unlock your potential! (Side note, my phone autocorrected potential to panties, which is really the line the marketing team should have gone with)
Dude, it feels like an ad for a western mountain community for "active 55+ year olds" with some random skiing content tossed in. Actually, I'm sure that's the target demographic for these skis, early-retired denizens of JH and Alta.
I really like Dav, and want to like Bode... Bode has lost a lot of clout IMO by becoming a professional marketer of seemingly overhyped, overpriced products. Keyhole technology seems gimmicky on the order of marker piston plate bindings or scott venturi tips. The origin story doesn't help at all.
I like the shapes (25m radius across all widths) and I don't doubt the skis will be well made. Prices are kind of inline with offerings from other big manufacturers this year. I wish them success and I'm looking forward to seeing a pair of peak skis in the lift line.

I’d take a pair of Head Peak 85 NIP over these skis.

Well, that’s painful. Hopefully just horrid marketing.
I personally don’t understand how cutting a hole in the top layer of metal is leapfrogging.
If it worked so well when he was racing— why didn’t it reach the masses back then?
But yeah— Heritage has me more stoked than anyone right now.

For a different purpose, I ended up writing out a bunch of Stockli's history of old "keyholes", so I might as well paste it here for posterity.

2005/6-2006/7 Stormrider DP Pro
Asymmetric holes in tails, symmetric holes in tips. Not sure whether the black inserts are carbon or polyamide.

2007/8-2008/9 Stormrider DP Pro
Slightly redesigned holes, tails are still asymmetric. The red inserts are polyamide.

https://www.rasc.ru/gear/pdf/stockli....2008.2009.pdf
Quote from Freeskier:
"The ski features an asymmetric tail with polyamide inserts that allows the skis to be swapped from right to left to change their performance. When the polyamide inserts are on the inside of the ski, the DP Pro is, according to Stockli, torsionally softer, for a surfy ride in powder. Swap the skis from right to left (with the inserts on the outside edge) and the ski performs better on hard snow conditions." https://freeskier.com/stories/stockli-ski-review
For AK powder, Dominique Perret chose to ski with the tail holes on the inside edges. https://youtu.be/cjYZ3Px0j9I?t=220
2008/9-2009/10 Stormrider DP Pro+
Again, slightly redesigned holes, tails are still asymmetric.
Images/info at:
https://www.skipass.com/guide-matos/...er-dp-pro.html
https://www.rasc.ru/gear/pdf/stockli....2008.2009.pdf
2010/11-2011/12 Stormrider Pro
Stockli significantly decreased the asymmetry.
https://www.skipass.com/guide-matos/...rider-pro.html
https://issuu.com/jwpeters2/docs/sto...0_2011_catalog
2012/13
It appears Stockli eliminated all asymmetry this year, but they made partial length-wise cuts in the metal for some models.
https://issuu.com/oriolsintas/docs/stockli_2012
2016/17
No asymmetry, but Stockli brought back emphasis on holes in metal, filled with carbon inserts and polyamide inserts.

The peak marketing video is about as generic and white-bred as anything I've seen. I don't understand who the target audience is... investors? Middle to late aged retired businessmen? Certainly not die hard skiiers that obsess over variations in ski performance.
Lots of talk about innovation and then one sentence introducing keyhole technology. I have no idea what that does other than vitamin I previous post.
Grit isn't new. There are books on 'grit' and raising kids with grit.
The video takes innovation and makes it generic. Honestly, disappointing.
I have no personal opinion on any of the people involved with the company. It does seem that the people involved in peak, as portrayed in the video, seem less out of the ordinary than i would expect to shake up an entire industry and play in a different sandbox. I hope I'm wrong and they come up with a ski that is game changing instead of another refinement. That would be cool.
For the sake of the people involved in peak, I hope the video is just poor marketing.
My post says little to nothing that hasn't already been stated in this thread. Perhaps I should apply for a marketing job.
Ooooh. Internet armchair quarterbacking is fun. Who should we gang up on next?

The Peak marketing is aimed at people who have social media as the center point of their lives. It’s visually appealing and there’s lots of catchy terminology but ultimately it’s without substance.

Peak Chat
Let’s be honest, Peak just put the rest of the industry on notice. Years from now, we will look back at this moment, when keyholes and leapfrogging seemed so misunderstood, as the time that innovation, grit, and a pair of calipers changed the face is skiing. Mark my words. This is a seismic shift. The only question you should be asking yourself is “Are you ready?”
And here we thought we had reached the pinnacle of ski design with the Soul 7. We were wrong. We were so wrong. In constant pursuit of the perfect slarve...

I’m a little confused about why there were all the caliper shots, they can’t even make their own skis what’s a caliper going to tell them?

My friend told me about an article in BusinessWeek.
Seems like a paid infomercial for Peak Skis Co., but at least the author claims he tested the skis on snow.
