Lost an OG Maggot and dear friend Ubersheist this weekend
Hi All,
It is with a heavy heart that I need to say one of our own and my long time dear friend Josh aka Ubersheist passed away this weekend. Apparently from a heart attack. This one hurts. It hurts bad. He was such an amazing part of mine and divegirl's lives and always such a kind, gentle, and generous soul and an outstanding musician. He spent his last day at the beach among friends with his Ukulele so he died doing what he loved.
Some memories...
He was a groomsman at our wedding. We had him and his girlfriend at the time play and sing Iris DeMent and John Prine's In Spite of Ourselves. We all got the side-eye from some of the older, more conservative guests but it fit our connection so well.
When we first met way back in the BC Summit in I think '03. Here getting high in the basement of the Dancing Bear hostel in Nelson. That's me on the far lookers left holding the J with Uber next to me with the crutches (he hurt himself at Whitewater earlier that day).
Uber and Captain Powder at a Mammoth Mini
The Maggot crew on the Mammoth summit. Uber lying in the snow.
Captain Powder, divegirl, me, Uber, and the rest of the crew at the Mill beach. Mammoth Mini.
Always the instigator, Uber provided me the proper Elvis headwear for the day.
late night at Lakanuki. DJSapp, me, divegirl, and Uber
Uber showed up in this getup and pretended to be a bumbling Eastern European for a while (think Borat) with a spot on accent.

RIP mag.
Looks young for a widowmaker heart attack, but hey you never know what day is going to be your last.

Either 2006 or 2008 Mammoth Mini (I forget which). Uber liked the costumes.
Uber far left in this pic.
He was a good man.
