Heli or cat trip first week of April - school me
Wife and I are thinking of pulling the trigger on a trip the first week of April. Have done quite a bit of research and I think it’s only confused me—-so I thought I’d ask the collective here.
Where would you go? What outfit? Preference toward heli, backup with a cat for low viz is a bonus. Open to an all cat outfit if it offers a more luxurious experience but not at all the preference.
Just vomit in the thread here and I’ll clean it up. Genuinely interested in what you’d do that time of year.
We’re good skiers not looking for gnarly, just a good time.

april can be warm, or further north is more better.
www.neheliskiing.com
easy flight into Vancouver, and then to terrace. PU at airport and quick shuttle to lodge.
Have FULL cat ski terrain within heli terrain as a backup. terrain is 50km by 100km (fucking huge)
similar price to the big players, but WAY bigger terrain and amazing crew. I have been fortunate to ski (some as staff, some as guest) with many heli/cat places. Its top notch

Canuck $ might work out pretty good for the American $, also their tenure is fucking huge and if they take care of all transportation so you arent renting a car that is big
i've done a couple days at Skeena cat, really easy cuz its only 45 min from hereLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

yeah I havent done the heli ski but for us those Skeena catski trips were 400can$ booked on the spur of the moment, no airfare no rental car no accomadations, I even offered the driver gas money and he said don't worry about it
Skeena has since got involved with the owner of HBM and i think mustang, I don't know if they do the day trips anymore
we would see the Cat & maybe Heli skiers at HBM if the skiing really suckedLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

I did back to back years at CMH before the pandemic. I really liked there terrain and guides. We went in February, but they also have spring specials.

I ski'd up there a few years ago, and though I inquired before I booked and was assured they'd mix up the groups if the fit wasn't good, they refused to do so after it was obvious, and I ended up paying for way too much low angle meadow skipping. I'd never go back!

I did my first heli trip on April 9 as a standby. CPG has cat as well, and Alyeska is right there with probably the nicest hotel in the state. Other operators in the area will do more inclusive/remote lodge experiences, but the snow should be on point either way.
I still haven't edited the footage but here's a run:
