Bike Rack Gems
I see some choice rides in public bike racks sometimes. Someone rode this to the office today. Not sure what purpose that bar end is serving. If you look close you can see the other one. The pinch bolt is missing so it's just hanging there loose. Must make a racket while riding. Also be sure to note the grass and dirt stuffed into the end of the bar, and what appears to be a headlamp strapped to the seatpost.

I supervise the bike valet stations at our annual music festival (https://sistersfolkfestival.org)
We use triathlon-type racks to hang pedal bikes by saddle nose.
Invariably, despite big fucking signs that say “Don’t park your bikes here when there’s no attendant”, when I come to a station in the early AM, there’s at least one bike where owner hung the front wheel over the rack’s crossbar (resting bike on fork/down tube joint) then locked everything to the crossbar.
It’s about a 30sec fix to remove the rack legs from the crossbar, slide the bike off, set it underneath the big sign that sez “don’t park your bike here unless there’s an attendant” and reassemble the rack.
People are always amazed when they retrieve their steed only to find it somewhere other than where they parked it, and then get a friendly reminder about why it’s not a good idea to lock your bike to one of our racks.

^^ So is that an up down pedal motion instead of circular? Trying to figure it out.

Generally similar to the Alenax bikes. I've never ridden one, but it doesn't sound like they work very well.

This one is cool. Alfine belt drive, Salsa rims with a DT240 front hub, old XT brakes, proper lights.
