While far from the greatest movie of all time, the original Roadhouse had a pretty good cast. Some of them were great, Ben Gazara was brilliant. It was probably Swayze’s best effort in spite of the cheese.

Gyllenhall was decent but the rest cast in the reboot were terrible.

Several years ago I eventually broke down and watched the remake of Point Break.

Fooled me once, so won’t be making the same mistake in regards to Road House.

The original RH is just a great B-movie, totally in the vein of Walking Tall.

I am merely posting this due to its relevance in regards to this thread.
I personally thought each one of the remakes listed herein sucked and were pointless exercises that needn’t have been made.

It really was a great movie. I don't know what to call the genre but Swayze fucking owned it.

Yup, sure did. And the Walking Tall comparison is very on point.

Time to give it another proper watch. Maybe this rainy weekend.

They aren’t comparable. Two completely different movies and intentions. One was a good movie. One is a money making venture. Both are entertainment in their own right and you just need to set expectations accordingly.
I watch a lot of movies and enjoy a lot of movies. And a lot are garbage, yet entertaining. Entertainment is why I watch movies. The quality of entertainment out there lately has certainly diminished. I’m not disputing that.
