I once left a nice bike leaning against a tree and drove away because I saw a hummingbird. Or a cloud. Or something.

IME some lense Rx are WAY more than 600 can $ if you want to be able to see anything, the wayfarer frames are the cheap part
Rayban sunglasses were cheaper than Rayban bare frames with no lense so buy the sunglasses & take out the lenses cuz they are really good frames made in Italy
I got Raybans with yellow lenses for snow, I got plain sunglasses, I got half wire/ half plastic frame sunglasses, I got sunglasses that fold in half down the middle and probably some I forgot about, its excessive and its free on extended HC as long as its a Rx
cuz one can only spend so much on ViagraLee Lau - xxx-er is the laziest Asian canuck I know

High strength Rx usually go to a different lens material to keep the lenses from being excessively thick/heavy. You often get raped on those lenses. Warby Parker charges $50 over standard:
Progressive lenses are the big ticket item. $200 additional cost for them.
Glasses are expensive because of lack of competition, not cause they’re expensive to make:

I just did a stoner move last weekend. Lady and I were going to float the river in our yaks. We load the yaks on one truck. She drives that and I drive the shuttle truck. We're about 2 miles from the put-in in both trucks before I realized two trucks at the put-in isn't going to do us much good.
This is after she stoner moved on the way. I was in a white GMC. Somewhere along the way, she gets behind me a few cars. As I go straight through an intersection, I look back and see her turning right- following a different white GMC. I call her cell. No answer (ringer off). She followed it for about 10 minutes before she realized it wasn't me she was following and picked up her phone and called me.
The float was good though.

What does ‘notably poor quality’ mean? My understanding is that when Warby started they outsourced lenses from a major supplier (same outfit opticians offices likely use), then when they were larger and could afford it they purchased the equipment to bring it in house, but it’s the same machines that are used elsewhere.
FWIW, my prescription is weak, but I did look into them for my mom who has always had horrible vision and requires a very strong prescription and Warby Parker offered it. (She had just purchased glasses, so not actually looking to buy at the time.)

Warby and others cannot help us with funny shaped eyballs ( astigmatism) we have to go traditional and get crushed trying to make the lenses thin
I earned this handle I use here in HS

I got the funny shaped eyez. Each eye is radically different. Very near sighted in one. Very far sighted in the other. I need a lot of prism to get to binocular vision. It sucks. My depth perception is fucked. So I basically 'ski braille'. I hate bumps. And really only trust myself to open it up on wide open spaces, groomed or not. With good light. I got fucked once by a groomer who made the trail two very different heights by about a foot. I am sure they figured anyone could see it. The light was wrong and so I dropped in,. cranked a hard turn a blamo, I had started on the low side. Yard sale. Nothing broken so I guess no foul, right?

I left a pair of very mild prescription Oakleys in the overhead top cubby of a rental I returned after driving it for 2 weeks. I went back the next day and nobody was going to own up to taking/keeping them. Live and learn.
Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!
