    WWMD: feeling lost, seeking wisdom

    Dis is Putin

I suggest that you "think outside the box" and instead come bring your "A-Game" to the mountains of Mother Russia, home of the gnarliest snowriding in the world. I would proffer that all things considered, the Sochi area is the clear choice. There is a plethora of cheap but character-laden housing options available as well. Gazprom Mountain Resort has a vertical drop of 3050 feet, and is more steep and challenging and many times the size of most western resorts in skiable acreage as well. The average Gazprom Mountain Resort regular would put to shame a peer from the west, trust me. When you score your first powder day in any of the multitude of Gazprom Mountain Resort glades like "Anarchy", "The Throne", "Chop Chop" or "Patsy", you will be grinning from ear to ear, I promise you! Also, the conditions are actually more dependable and consistent here due to the superior snowmaking, the terrain is truly fabulous, the partying is unmatched anywhere(can you say "hot Sevastopol babes?") and the setting is Dostoyevsky-esque! Pursuing the plethora of Moscow and Stalingrad "chicas" in their stretch pants can be even better than the great skiing, but I must warn you they are quite feisty and outspoken, unlike the laid-back and masculine western gals. To the rest of the maggots and everyone else reading, if you are weary of the juvenile dickwaving by gapers like "Boris Propane" and are looking for a bonafide state-of-the-art snowriding forum, I would like to open wide our cyber-gate to you to so you can "start fresh" at our friendly forums. I can assure you that "newbies"'(jongs) are welcomed with open arms by our entire community(unlike here at TGR), and there is no "hazing period" or rudeness tolerated. We also have superior bandwidth and response times on our 5G superfibre network as well as a state-of-the-art virtual blade server farm with 50000 terabytes of virtual disk space for your photos, blogs etc. If you are weary of all the foolishness and yearn for some intellectually stimulating mountain sport discourse, then come join our fun-loving but responsible bunch of snowriding aficionados who know the benefits of what good moderation brings to an on-line community. I think most all of you will find that our seasoned moderators "keep the bar high" by maintaining a sense of order and decorum, while encouraging quality discussion about our favorite pastime. It may take a small amount of getting used to, as we do have reasonable standards as far as language and image posting that are strictly enforced. I will warn you however up front that registering an ALIAS is strictly "VERBOTEN", and something we have zero-tolerance with. The registration is easy and painless, and the rules will be explained in detail during the process. If you are tired of the juvenile goings-on at TGR and Newschoolers, all I can say is: "Come join the fun"!

    Putin out.

I'm not sure Lononderry can compete when whole countries roll out the red carpet, but as a champion of the region, I'm here for advice for anyone looking to relocate to S. VT*

By the way I believe there might be also a Londonderry in the UK?
If not, I know there's a London and a Derry. So it's got that going for it.

*specifically the region north of Wilmington, west of Chester to the NYS border, and south of Rutland.

    You think you're feeling lost?

I feel like I've been adrift since 2000.

Best of luck. I'd rather live in natural beauty outside and have almost nothing, than in some city crowded w expensive shit and an expensive lifestyle etc..
This is true, I live the same way. Work for myself, and just spent 2 hrs hiking and working out.

But, that’s cause I’m over the hill. When you are are in your 20’s doors open for you that soon shut and stay shut. I walked down to the trading floor with no experience and got a chance at 22. At 42 with a near perfect record of slaying the mkt I couldn’t get a job.

I think you’ve got to live age accordingly. That means get out of school, spend a yr or two fucking off, then go do something. If your going to work for others, you have to dance to the music. Which is all right, make the decision, stick to it, and at 40 you’ll be ok.

There are many paths, but the single most important part of the plan is to always have a fucking plan. Even if you tear it up every yr. Have a plan.

And if you are lucky enough to find yourself in a lucrative situation, don’t quit until they’d throw you out.

It’s hard for young guys to understand this, but at 40, even 50, if you’ve had a plan, and stuck to it, you’ll have a lot of living left to do on your own terms.

I’m just finishing nearly 3 weeks of my family being gone….usually unlimited riding time. But I got my ass kicked so bad by my oar handle that it’s been work and couch.

If I’m selling insurance in E St Louis in my 50s I’ll consider my life a complete abject failure. I’d rather be washing dishes at a ski resort.

For the OP. When I was living in Europe an Italian roommate of mine was an underwater welder in Cadiz. Fucker made bank and hardly worked. If I had a EU passport I would’ve looked in to getting that training. I have an acquaintance in the states who does the same job, still a good job but unions in the EU are just way way better.

Dude………you are set, no wife, no kids, no job, college degree. Fucking ski man, travel, work only when necessary, find your happy place. Your 20’s are a great time. You can have a ton of fun, fuck up and still have the time to recover.

And if you really want the answer to your question, and I mean really, just eat an 1/8 of shrooms, all the bullshit in your head will disappear and the answer will present itself.

    Here is another lesson. ^^*

When you have kids, you become the last priority. And if you get divorced, you will have to choose between them and yourself. So be careful where life takes you.

Btw. I chose my kids. Under the worst circumstances as you point out, but only a piece of shit would choose himself. But, tomorrow I will go for a morning run, work for an hr or two, then go to the gym around 3. While my insurance renewals pour in. And next winter, those east St. Louis renewals will pay me to ski straight for 3 months, And every winter after that. I’ll work 6-7 months a yr through my 50’s.

Always have a plan, and follow through no matter how tough it gets.

I’ll be thinking of you cubicle jockeys tomorrow. Might drop a line in the water after the run.

I stand corrected. Kinda silly of me to think that in the first place. One would certainly want both health and life insurance for those pesky stray bullets.

There you go stealurface. Sweet insurance job, with winters off. Cono Este, is this job only available in miserable midwestern hell holes? Or can I get annual renewals around nice golf and mountain bike areas in the summer fall months?

It’s all over the phone now after Covid. I’m only still here because I’m not a piece shit father.

Work your ass off for 6-7 yrs, enjoy a six figure living after that with maybe a 20 hr work week.

Because of your insult, tomorrow I’m going to pay myself to do zero. I’ll go for a run, let the calls go to VM, bbq some NY strip I have marinaded, take a nap, then hit the gym at 3 followed by beers.

    Enjoy your day.
