Row vs Wade
Say there’s a long but shallow river on your way to the ski hike.
Do you take off your pants and boots and wade?
Or do you bring an inflatable raft?

Are any women allowed? And if so, I (being a male) must have authority over their mode of crossing.
Aim for the chopping block. If you aim for the wood, you will have nothing. Aim past the wood, aim through the wood.

I generally wait for old, white, fat, rich guys who don’t ski nor would have the ability to if they wanted, to tell me how to get across. And fingers crossed when I’m skiing in my home state, my family is cool and doesn’t mention to any authorities that I even went skiing. Would hate for my boot fitter to go to jail over my decision to go skiing.

Really depends on approach and locale, but I appreciate having the choice.

Depends on how long it has been since runoff started.
