    I skied this "patch" a couple of days ago, to get my October turns. There is an older wind-drifted strip of snow underneath the more recent snow where my tracks are -- if you strayed too far to either side you'd hit lots of rocks.

    I skied Mt. Sputnik with Mrs. Vets and our dogs Zooey and Hazel to start my 229th consecutive month skiing.
    Mt. Sputnik proudly opened the season earlier than any of the ski resorts in Nevada.

    Vets, great photo! That narrow ribbon of snowy road makes me think of a WROD, except in this case it's a white ribbon of determination :-)
