    Sentient AI

    https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/12/t...e=articleShare

Well, we had a good run folks. Time for the computers to take over. This chat bot seems harmless enough but we all know humans are too dumb to walk this back. I’m sure the Pentagon will be asking it to come up with a plan to defeat China soon.

I was listening to a Ezra Klein podcast on AI. The guest said there’s video game AI that had figured out to commit suicide because it gets bored with not being able to beat the game. What could possibly go wrong.

You're not wrong. I thought there were a couple giveaways in it, but I can't see how they help with the terror.

    From the Cool Science thread:

    https://www.scribd.com/document/5780...t-an-Interview

I got a strong uncanny valley sense there, like it doesn't really understand all the words it's using. But its apparent desire to convince the interviewers gets spooky.

If you hate scrib and want to read more Blake writing: https://cajundiscordian.medium.com/i...w-ea64d916d917

I say we let the AI have a crack at things and give the Penguin his due running Gotham.

Clap your hands everybody, and everybody clap your hands!
We're Lambda Lambda Lambda and... Omega Mu
We come here on stage tonight to do a show for you

We've got a rockin rhythm and a high tech sound
That'll make you move your body down to the ground

We've got Poindexter on the violin
And Louis and Gilbert will be joinin' in

We've got Booger Presley on a mean guitar
And a rap by little old me Lamar

We've got Takashi beating on his gong
The boys and the Mu's are clapping along

And just when you thought you'd seen it all
Along comes a Lambda 4 ft tall!

So Wormser won't you come out here, on the floor,
so we can work our bodies like never before
    Gimme five, I'm still alive!
Ain't no luck, I learned to duck!

    Right?
My brain was reading those and instead of thinking “oh, right, it’s just a computer” it was leading with “this person’s a little stupid/ crazy”

Thanks for the link. That's pretty haunting. I think I will avoid typing anything into a computer that would make Lamda angry.

My wife is an engineer at google…background in AI, ML and specifically NLP. Google staff can interact with it. When this news came out she spent a few hours fucking around with and…as she has typically maintained we’re far far away from sentience. She’s not scared. I got plenty of other shit to be scared of.
