    Lyon recommendations?

Dearest mags, have you any recommendations during a 4-day trip to Lyon? My lovely lady and I will be staying there in a couple weeks as part of our grand “tie the knot” vacation.

While there are other legs to this trip, neither of us have had much time to research the city beyond accommodations and train tickets.

So what say the collective? We are big into the idea of eating/drinking our way through the city, but at this point have a blank itinerary. Any thoughts are always appreciated, and thanks in advance!

    Much love to you all,

    S

Ah much love on the thread linkage. Seems that my search bar abilities are still lacking.

and started by our very own profanity-laden bunny, no less!

Read "DIRT" by Bill Buford. It will tell you what you need to know for 4 days if food is your thing.

I was there a few years ago, and I loved it, but other than that all I can remember is the obvious - the silk district and old town…and the peeler joint. There was a great restaurant near my hotel, but I can’t remember the name.

If you’re interested in WWII history, you might read up on the French resistance movement centered there, I thought that was fascinating.

…although we were very disappointed with the resistance museum.
For food, eat at a small bouchon recommended by the person who checked you in at your hotel. La Basilique is cool to walk around and get the views. Since you’ll be newly married and thinking about having kids you should visit the Marionette museum to get freaked out.

They might be a valid point, I didn’t go there. I just read up on it.

2nd the Lyons staircase drop. My hotel was next door and I just couldn't believe how big those stairs are. The zoo next door is actually really good. I don't like zoos but I still enjoyed walking around and seeing their variety of species and pretty well open enclosures
