Anyone skiing the Justis here? If so what size, do they ski short?

I have a Mantra 102 in 191, just feels like too much ski for me except in perfect conditions. Want something I can still charge on and carve, but can also release the tails when necessary, and is a little more of an all-around ski than the Mantra.

I've read good things about the Justis, and they seem to be more in line with what I want. but never skied them. I'm 6'3 / 190.

I've had both and M102 in 191 is way more ski than Justis in 190. Both are nice and damp but the rocker profile of Justis felt very weird with a clear hinge point. Mantra is a much better ski as long as you have some room to run. You might want to check Line Blade Optic 104. At least that's what I will replace M102 with this season.

Hinge point as in if you didn't initiate a turn at a certain point the ski felt off?

Yeah, I think I still want to keep the Mantra's, as I know I'll like it when its a day I can really push the ski. I wish I went with a 184 for more versatility though.

Just read up on the Line Blade Optics - seem like a much different ski than the M102... -7 mounting point and much weaker shovels. Have you skied them?

If you look at the rocker profile, the tips absurdly splay at the rocker point and it almost feels like they try to drag you up the hill in the middle of a long fast turn. Could be fine at slower speed but to me it felt unbalanced and unpredictable.
Re Blade Optic: haven't tried them but they sound like more accessible and versatile skis. With current prices at Corbett's it doesn't hurt to give them a try. I never said they are a match to M102 but rather different ski that can (hopefully) be skied pretty hard without being too much work. Mount point is only part of the character of the ski...

Wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, was just wondering/looking for some additional insight... I appreciate it.

And I follow you, re: the Justis. Thanks.

My findings on Justis isn't that the splay per se is the problem, but that the sidecut is extended very long towards the tips and then just a short tip taper, which tends to drag the tips abruptly into turns.

Look for my visualisation higher up in the thread. I completely rounded off the edges of that section, and that calmed the ride significantly. I was that close to letting my 183's go, but I'm still holding on to them.

Found it, thanks. Glad I asked you guys, I don't want to deal with that.

Bought some 99ti's in 184 randomly from Corbett's after reading your responses. Too cheap to pass up and should fill out the spot of a easier to ski M102. I'll run them both this year and keep the ones I like more.

I agree with all these statements. My 189 liked to turn too much and didn’t like being run on a flat base with all of the rocker. It was skittish. I would just point you to a Corvus instead. That ski does everything and anything very well. It’s the best all around ski on the market as long as you can ski.

Any reason for me to be looking at a ‘23 Corvus 183cm if I already own a mint OG metal reverse Katana 184cm other than navel gazing and being antsy to get this ski season started? What would a Corvus do better?

Joey is a bad bad man…. Or at least influence. Added a 183 to my 188 Corvus club over weekend. Black / pink Strive bindings?

I just doubled down with a slightly less mint 188. That ski is amazing & worth every penny.

Did you pick off that 399 deal from STP? That's a steal!

I know this is stupidly expensive but always thought Pit Viper could go well with the Corvus https://www.snowcountry.eu/23-look-p...pit-viper.html

Or just put all white binders on those. It'll be like icing on the cake!

I'm like the one guy on this board who is not a fan of the pivots. Perhaps a Griffon.

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues
