Great info. Bringing my girls up mid July for a Seattle sights/UW campus visit/waterfront visit with boat ride to see Seattle from the water/brewery visits for a F-M deal.
I’m seeing the ferry gets more votes than the hour boat tours from the waterfront?
Any further beta y’all have here?
Daughter is a senior now and her first choice for premed is UDub.
Any must sees on campus or nearby?
Basecamp will be in Lake Forest Park.
Can I get rail from that area to get down to the city and back? Trying to not get a car.
Aquarium, Pike’s Place, Space Needle, art museum, waterfront meal, boat ride, what else am I missing for a 17 year old woman?
Abraham, still want to get that beer with you.
In July 15 am, out July 19 am. Turning 48 on the 18th so I’m fairly sure I’ll be enjoying the breweries that day.

Unfortunately not yet. The furthest north rail goes right now is Northgate which is a couple miles south of where you'll be. However, the bus system is pretty extensive. Odds are you won't need a car, but obviously having one makes getting around a lot easier.
Here's the system map that shows the routes thru both LFP and the U District/UW: https://kingcounty.gov/~/media/depts...-system-map-nw
edit: carlh is probably more or less right UNLESS where you are staying is close to either Ballinger Way or Bothwell Way (aka 522).

I figured it was at 60 acres, and he’s got soccer playing kids with, so Seattle waterfront stuff. I’ll be at Bellevue mall today. It’s a fucking mall. Or shit, go to Woodinville and wine taste, the kids will love it.
https://www.argosycruises.com. Has beer and wine, I’ve done it 3 times with kids, and adults. Ferry works too, no docents to explain stuff. Aquarium, space needle, food nearby. Maybe the kids would like the art museum or https://www.chihulygardenandglass.com/? I don’t know your kids.
Any musicians?

Thanks fellas. Know they are building north, just didn’t know how far they’ve gotten. Our friends we are crashing with can get us to the closest station to go into downtown I’m sure on Monday the 18th.

I think most of us recommend a ferry ride over a boat tour because it's a more authentic experience (and much cheaper). Yeah, the boat tours are going to give you commentary, so if you want that definitely pick an Argosy tour--or as someone else already mentioned there are boat tours around Lake Union starting from MOHAI that are fun and cheap. I think they only do them on Sundays, though?

Center for Wooden Boats rents boats to go out on Lake Union. LU is also good for SUP. Don't try kayaking/SUP on Lake Sammamish. Too many wakesurf boats (including mine).
Wandering downtown isn't what it used to be due to boarded buildings and homeless, but it seems to be getting slightly better. Waterfront is 100000% better since the viaduct is gone. Sculpture Garden down on the water is great, too.

There's an outfit on the waterfront with a 70ft racing yacht that does Elliot Bay tours.
The Underground Tour sounds cheesy but is a great couple of hours - as mentioned earlier.
Best quick/casual lunch in Pike Place is the grilled salmon sandwich at the Market Grill.
Tour of the Amazon Spheres is interesting.
Sea Plane flight with Kenmore Air at Lake Union.

They are two females, mother and daughter. What is their natural instinct? To shop! Suggest the best places these ladies can spend some money! I guess Pikes Place works for that although Bellevue Mall is a lot closer to their motel. In fact, I’d almost be certain that they can find the closest mall all by themselves.

Everyone I've asked about space needle says it isn't worth it. It's also not even that tall compared to the rest of Seattle these days.

Not surprising. 30 years is a long time to be in business. There was another place I used to frequent on 45th just west of I-5, which I recently discovered is now called "Kate's Pub" but it had a different name then.
Sure glad I got out of that place alive and not permanently pickled."fuck off you asshat gaper shit for brains fucktard wanker." - Jesus Christ

Personally, I love the Space Needle and have been up top a bunch of times. The sticker price is too high, but it's still a great experience and view. Columbia Tower was meh when I did it 20 years ago. A tall building in the middle of tall buildings.
For shopping, Bellevue Square is the only real option on the Eastside. Southcenter is probably a better mall, but much further away.

I agree--ferry usually better than tour although sometimes it's nice to wind up back where you started. The boat tour around Manhattan was pretty good because the guide was a moonlighting socialist history prof who gave a pretty good speech when we were near the Statue of Liberty about how we were lucky to be in the US and should welcome immigrants. And then told people where they could complain about him if they wanted. I've done a ton of ferry rides and boat tours traveling and liked them all, although I would have much rather taken ferries than the cruise up the Inland Passage and back.
