WTF man. We were talking NBA shit to each other this winter and you were just down the street? We could have had a ski off and settled it all.

A while back one of the local dirt pimp outfits was running full page ads with the header:

It would be funny if it wasn't so fucking sad.

Anyways, if anyone wants to see real welfare ranching, go over to Jackson. What should we call it when the .01% gets truly massive property tax breaks for keeping a few dozen nags on their real estate investments?

There’s literally thousands of miles of rivers and streams and hundreds of thousands of acres of private land that ranchers own and allow the public to hunt and fish on throughout the west. Build trails? Probably not. And the fucking Bundy’s are not your typical ranchers either. That’s a piss poor example of ranchers.

It’s the Manhattanites that you idolize so much are the ones buying the land and locking everyone out.

In Montana some rich California asshole bought some land that the previous land owners allowed the public to access the NF through. Long story short, California asshole murdered his new neighbor trying to use that trail.
Actually it's generally far right hedgies and mining/fracking folks.
Manhattanites are the ones paying stupid money in metros and Aspen etc.

It’s Wyoming, but good guy or asshole w/ a few nags?

In the late 1970s Chuck spearheaded the legal opposition to a lawsuit filed by the sewage plant in Teton Village that would have allowed effluent to be discharged across the Snake River Ranch into the headwaters of Fish Creek.

It's easy to separate the philanthropist from the rich asshole gaming the system.

If the owner puts a permanent conservation easement on the property, they are conservation minded. If they don't, then they are just another rich asshole who gets a trophy property at a deeply reduced tax rate until he chooses to develop it.

Ha. I was only there for 4 nights in early December. My friend and co-worker moved to Hailey last year. Really enjoyed the area. Makes me want to get a place out there and be one of those hated Californians. Regardless I'll be back soon so I'll give a proper heads up next time. Also, those top to bottom laps are a real leg burner!

Give a shout. My wife immigrated from California, so I have a soft spot for you bay area people, so long as you bring weed and leave the shitty driving.

Did you get any touring in? Baldy is OK but the BC here is really hard to beat. That and the Rotarun parking lot (I live across the canyon).

In Stanley right now. Will be driving through Ketchum and Hailey tomorrow. Where should I stop on a street corner and yell “Reverend Floater Loves Gay Nazi Midget Porn” so as to have the greatest effect?

There wasn't enough snow yet for touring... but will definitely bring my gear for that next time I'm out.

Definitely the Sun Valley ice arena!

I leave for Montucky for work tomorrow AM, else I'd be there to answer. Enjoy Stanley? We have a cabin up that way. It's my favorite place on earth, outside of your mom's house.

In Eastern Oregon, maybe 1:20 past Boise (and 30 minutes off of 84), I've stayed at Bully Creek CG next to Bully Creek Reservoir. Wasn't anything super special, but a quiet nice place to spend the night, cheap, and had electric hookups if you have a camper. Stayed there on Buster's recommendation on our way from CO to the Oregon Coast, and liked it enough to stay there again on our way home. It was pretty hot, but our camper had A/C so the electric hookup saved us.
