Today North KaKalaKi passed a new law no longer requiring a Sherriff's Department approval permit to purchase a handgun. Now buying a handgun is just like buying a hunting rifle. $200 and thirty minutes and you've got a Glock! Also open carry here so you can stra it on visibly pretty much everywhere. 'MURIKA!!!
SMDH..Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

Nashville is being compared to Uvalde.
"The police were much more proactive in Nashville."
Um yea but the Nashville shooter had a handgun, the Uvalde shooter had a semi-automatic weapon.NYSB: NYSkiBlog.com

^fwiw, those Nashville LEOs were on point and systematic. Commendable.
I believe the shooter had 2 rifles and a handgun. The folding rifle (Keltec) has features like a handgun but still technically a rifle. All are semi-automatic.

So how much of the school shooting phenomena is now self perpetuating?
Do our children remember every one of these incident and invoke the names of the shooters in conversation or in rare cases maybe identify with one of these mentally ill people? And when pushed too far by life some snap and here we go again.I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I see she had time to add stickers to her arsenal before her murder spree. How bizarre.

here is one answer to core shot's "what has changed...?"
(it's a bit of a read but worthwhile perspective on the culture surrounding guns, gun history, gun marketing, gun politics, etc; i'm not a subscriber but was able to see it all)
gun sales targeted black guns at consumers and was wildly successful for manufacturers

The post 9/11 24hr news cycle telling us we’re all going to die all day everyday hasn’t helped.

I would read that. But I’m paywalled. I don’t get that shit at all. Give me some popups or other interspersed ads.
Anyway. I get the idea that gun sales and gun marketing changed. Used to be that little billy had a 22 rifle. Now he can go full AR. But the last tragic shooting was semi auto pistol and a shotgun. Sure. Let’s ban all guns. Of any type. But also. The point of my question was that something changed. Britain was talking about banning pointy knives a few years ago. What’s next? No more pointy cushions in case the Spanish Inquisition shows up?
I have no answers. But I do know there has been a huge change in society.

What is the down side of banning weapons designed and used for killing humans in a kill or be killed legal war? Other than a minor economic disruption for a small part of the economy? I don't see one. The up side is fewer dead kids. Sounds like a win.

I’ve always been pretty strong on 1A and 2A.
But yeah. AR is a bit different. Mentally and IRL. Fun to shoot. But scary at the same time.
But what’s the next ban? Knives. Fucking pointy knives. Fuck those things.
But AR ban leads to any semi auto ban. Which leads to only bolt action and six shooters. Which might not be a bad thing. Why can’t I buy a howitzer? I want to shoot some avy terrain.

If I had a dollar for every time capitalism was blamed for problems caused by the government I'd be a rich fat film maker in a baseball hat.
