I can honestly somewhat relate to the carry fans. There have been several times in my life where I felt so in danger that I really wish I had had a gun on me.. Road rage trying to force me off the road that follows me home or to a parking lot for escalation. Shit at bars and parties that spills over outside where I was out numbered, took a couple pretty bad beatings from stuff like that. More road rage escalations with my wife and kids on the car..
Cell phones have made that urge to carry decline somewhat.. But the main thing is I'd rather feel exposed on those rare occasions than deal with the knowledge that a gun I was responsible for was taken from my locked car and now out there putting the world at risk.. I know i'd get somewhere far from home where guns aren't allowed like the airport.. and have to either drive all the way back home or leave the gun in the car.. 100 out of 100 times I see myself leaving the gun in the car..
Without a cell phone though I'd probably be thinking seriously about carrying the gun. Instead I choose to just eat it and do/say whatever I can to de escalate no matter how in the right I was when shit started escalating... I'd rather eat being right and apologize to a psychopath than pull a gun and shoot them... because once it's out it's got to be an option to shoot it..Go that way really REALLY fast. If something gets in your way, TURN!

^^^If you’ve found yourself in those situations that often you might want to reflect on how that happens. It’s easy to avoid conflict in most circumstances. The only times that I’ve been in violent confrontations I’ve been a willing participant.

Agreed. It's been awhile. Think the last one was over a parking spot I took while someone else was at best 200 feet away and got angry at me yelling that they "saw it first". They followed me all the way to the mall shouting and threatening me. Ya, how do you avoid that? It's not often.. hence my view that being armed is all but completely unnecessary unless you have a high confrontation job or a violent stalker...

If you pull a gun on someone yelling at you over a parking spot, you are part of the problem. I won’t get into hanging out at the mall.

I wasn't yelling at them at all. I ignored them and briskly walked to the entrance of the mall where I stood inside watching to be sure they didn't get out of their car to key mine. They left. I went about my business.
Shit like this is one reason I don't carry. My thought process and anger might have caused me to react differently and add to the stupidity if I had a gun on me. This is why we all should just suck it up and deal with being gun free as possible in public. The myth that "an armed society is a polite society" is totally BUSTED!Go that way really REALLY fast.
