If only there was something we could do...

    ^is it even true?

Police chief blurted it out in an early press conference I haven’t seen anything definitive since.

I'm confused. Did the Japanese kill his daddy before or after he uttered that sage advice?

Regardless of school shootings; firearms being the leading cause of death among children equates to the fact that there are too many irresponsible gun owners….

One of you deep thinking policy writing car salesmen can probably correct me on this line of thinking and why I suck. But every time (which is a lot by now) we get into these post-massacre "what to do" debates, I flash to the old: motive - means - opportunity.

Motive - I agree with most here including pro-gun ppl. Hard, if not impossible, nut to crack here. Just that there increasingly more people who are motivated for these types of attacks.

Opportunity - Here's where we begin to disagree. We can't barricade the world. Opportunity for a shooting will exist virtually everywhere and anywhere there are people.

Means - This is the big disagreement. To me, no gun - no means. You can't shoot people without a gun and ammo. And we have created an environment where the means is beyond easy to attain.

So: Motives will exist. Opportunity is everywhere. But we can try to control the means. At least not make it laughably friction free and magnify the potential of destructiveness by protecting irrational weapons & attainment, combat-type mods & armor and high capacity mags .

I'm of the belief that a motivated shooter with the element of surprise and an arsenal is a powerful combination that proves to be very successful even against the well trained. So much so, that I'll take those odds any day of the week.

But, hey, that trans callout tells us a lot about you.
Motivated shooter.... JFC. She got smoked immediately.

Good thing we can fix this by having a private school hire a security guard because that will fix the problem everywhere.

Yeah, almost like it didn't happen. So....not immediately enough?

You like to call out this shooter as being particularly weak and incompetent. Fine. Does that reasoning work universally or historically? I'm going to say no. It doesn't hold up.

I'll dig up a video local deputy getting shot and nearly killed during a stop where he was vigilant as you'd ever expect a 'professional' to be. Hold on. I'm sure it'll change your opinion on motivated-surprise attacks.

After killing six people. Wouldn't you think the goal should be to prevent anyone from getting shot?

There's a bit of a difference from a guard who is there to prevent this kind of thing and police responding after the shooting has commenced.

That's what you remember about Uvalde?

    ---------

New info about Nashville, it seems the doors were locked properly but the shooter took out some glass to enter. I guess all glass should be by default bullet proof for n+1 rounds from now on.

    https://www.nbcmiami.com/news/nation...chool/3002690/

The shooter had also purchased 7 (!!!!) firearms recently despite being under a doctors care. Because it's my 2A right to go out and buy as many guns and ammo as a want because I am not a suspect until after I kill a few kids.

Pretty sad state of affairs that the Lock the Doors crowd can divert the conversation long enough until we forget and nothing gets done.

So security is only for private school kids, fuck them public ones?

Also seriously, you aren't even attempting to address all the other things, which shows how ridiculous the "defense" of current gun regs are. I get it, you want your fun pop toy, but as you yourself have pointed out, you're willing to jump through additional hoops/registration to do it, so doing that writ large isn't much of a stretch.

Watch her entry video. An armed senior citizen could've shot her climbing though the door. The fact she shot through the doors, alerted many to the threat. Thank God she didn't figure out a way to enter otherwise.

Maybe we could start finding volunteer senior citizens to arm themselves and sit at every door in every school.

    It could work...
