If only there was something we could do...

Coming to a school near you, sooner or later...

As a dad with 2 elementary school age kids, this hits hard.

KSAT San Antonio: 15 killed in shooting at Uvalde elementary school; gunman dead, Gov. Abbott says.

I've been watching this for a while now and yeah, I can imagine what you're feeling because Newtown happened just a few minutes from my house. I'm not an emotional person and I've had that same lump in my throat for a half hour now

In a few days, it will be forgotten and nothing will happen. A significant portion of Americans are willing to accept this.

When people care more about football and their guns than education and mental health, it's just how it is.

Because it's always someone else's kids. What's the saying? A single death is a statistic, a million dead is a tragedy. We still haven't gotten to the point where this is a tragedy. Probably never will. It will always be a moving target.

They are just little kids. 7 to 10 years old. Sick society that can't even take basic steps to keep their children safe.

    I hate that.

I hate the fact I cannot argue with that.

I live/work walking distance from my son's school, I dont think I would react very well.

I'm reminded by President Obama's feelings after Sandy Hook:
Obama says no event in his presidency enraged him more than Sandy Hook. "That was not only the saddest day of my presidency. But when Congress failed to do anything in the aftermath of Sandy Hook, that was the angriest I ever was in my presidency. I was disgusted and appalled by the inaction," Obama said.
We have to do better than this.

Same. I live in a state with two gun manufacturers and a large hunting culture. It's sad that this is what we've wrought with what we had.

Don't worry, Congress will surely do something.

Just gutted by this. I'll be angry later.

I remember being relieved when my oldest was no longer in the classroom closest to the main door in her elementary school.

Not even sure what to tell the kids once they hear about this.

It’s actually the other way and attributed to Stalin. “If only one man dies of hunger, that is a tragedy. If millions die, that’s only statistics.”.” So in that way we’re far past it being a tragedy where we could capitalize on the opportunity and change things. The national zeitgeist is far too accustomed to the deaths and so we as a society have decided nothing will happen, it’s merely another brick in the wall.

I have guns and I would turn them in willingly if it was the law of the land. Who will have the courage to do this? O right, after the election in November. Gutless cunts

I have a 7 year old. So innocent and happy.

Such a loss and I’m nauseous knowing nothing will ever change.

This is absolutely heart breaking. Fuck you Greg Abbott, Fuck you Ken Paxton. As a former Texan, go fuck yourself you stupid fucking morons.

Ken Paxton just stood on ABC and fucking gaslit the whole country while wearing his re-election shirt saying that guns aren't the problem.

It's one political party. Not saying the Dems are great but they aren't tools of the NRA and Russia.

    Guns aren’t going away.

Turn our schools into high security facilities and take away the soft targets. Same as getting into a federal building or prison, pentagon, etc.

Problem won’t go away but at least protect the kids a little better.
