I wasn't too serious. It's just that i know the last vaccinenations here were a Generation before me.
It has a 85% protection against the monkey Variety. So even if you're visiting some ...uh... very...sexually liberated Establishments, you're still pretty safeIt's a war of the mind and we're armed to the teeth.

Not sure what protection you will still have from an old smallpox vaccine.

You probably have it in your armpit that’s where mine is. 1968. They started doing that to hide the scar.

I'm old, but not all that old.
Got my smallpox vax from uncle sam in 2005 I think? Military thing, once I cross trained into a certain career field it was a requirement due to all the travel.
No weird plans, just was curious if this arm scar would actually be useful for something.

The recommendation is revaccination if your smallpox is over 3 years ago. This was the frequency for boosters for high risk smallpox exposure too.
I stand by my statement: distant smallpox vaccination offers unknown protection from monkeypox.
Waning protection and younger folks not being vaccinated after smallpox eradication is why monkeypox has re-emerged.Originally Posted by blurred

Looks like the last time it hit here involved a bunch of Wisconsin crackers around 2003. So ya your bigoted assertions aren't holding well..

I guess texas is an ass to mouth community?
"A search of imported animal records revealed that Gambian giant rats were shipped from Ghana in April to a wildlife importer in Texas and subsequently were sold to the Illinois distributor," a CDC report said. "The shipment contained approximately 800 small mammals of nine different species that might have been the actual source of introduction of monkeypox."

Why is anyone importing rats? Don't we have enough of them already?

Apparently us old folks with the scar on our arm are mostly protected from Mnkeypox.
A smallpox vaccine could also protect against monkeypox because of the similarities between the two viruses, according to the CDC. Past data from Africa suggests that a smallpox vaccine can be at least 85% effective in preventing monkeypox, the CDC says

CDPHE announced CO’s first presumptive monkeypox case (confirmed OPV, awaiting CDC). This Denver case, like other US cases, recently traveled to Canada and identifies as MSM. Per CDPHE, public risk remains low, though community spread is possible.
Case Presentation and Exam Pearls from CDC:
• Travel and sexual history are important, but not definitive.
• Many cases are presenting to outpatient first.
• Emphasis on discovering firm umbilicated lesions of the characteristic monkeypox rash
• Examine the whole body for lesions in addition to the focal point of complaint.
• CDC noted that some cases have not had disseminated rashes, only focal lesions.
• Increased risk of severe disease in pediatric patientsOriginally Posted by blurred

Sounds like this is like the kind of shit that would spread like wildfire in a daycare.. like ringworm or hand foot and mouth.
