I hope you know that this will go down on your permanent record!
Oh, yeah? Well, don't get so distressed
Did I happen to mention that I'm impressed?

Solid list. I'd add Descendents, Minutemen, Husker Du, and Replacements.

Surprised to see you've heard Agent Orange. I'm assuming you haven't always been ECRC adjacent? Or maybe they got bigger than I thought?

Here's a video they shot at my aunt & uncle's skatepark in Upland.

I'll throw one out there that I was listening to yesterday. One of the most underrated albums and bands from the 80's. Boingo Alive

Recorded live but not with an audience. Great sound and great songs from 1988.

Oakwood Lake was great. Looked it up about 10 years ago and it's condos now.

    A few Cow Palace shows I remember: Rush 3/14/80, Ted Nugent & Scorpions 5/23/80, Ozzy w/RR 12/30/81

Plenty of great shows over in Oakland too (not even including the DotG). Cheap Trick & Pat Travers 12/27/79, Foreigner/Rick Derringer/April Wine 1/11/80, Van Halen 10/9/80

VT homer. I grew up within the broadcast range of UVM's WRUV. College radio was a necessary part of growing up.

They got bigger than you thought. If there were skaters, there was Agent Orange. They are still around and playing in Burlington this fall.

Along those lines of skate bands the 80’s also brought us taxi driver, John Hinckley, and Jody Fosters Army.

Between you and Riser, that’s a pretty good list of great 80’s music. Add in all the other examples and one can see why the 80’s were amazing for music.

I grew up in Upland and spent a lot of time in the pre80s at the Pipeline. But the mid 80s it had already kinda fallen out of favor and got bulldozed right before skateboarding really took off in the 90s. Went to school in Claremont, but don’t recall bands ever playing at the pipeline - Cool find

Ted - super cool your aunt and uncle started it. Visionary! In 85 , I was hitchhiking in France and got picked up by some surfers who were ecstatic to meet someone that skated at Le Pipeline. I sent them some stickers when I got home and still trade postcards w them occasionally

Agent Orange’s “This is the voice” LP was in constant rotation in my college house in MN; they had wide distribution. Someone should remaster it; all the digital versions sound like shit.

The '80's was chock full of absolute garbage as well. But the decade that gave us, objectively, the top 100 worst one-hit wonders of all time, also gave us five bajillion thrash bands with at least one good song.

Scientists now have decisive molecular evidence that humans and chimpanzees once had a common momma and that this lineage had previously split from monkeys.

MTV was actually culturally relevant, Yo MTV Raps, Headbangers Ball, 120 Minutes, add in Night Flight on USA channel and you had a party on a Saturday night.

Only thing I see mentioned a lot here that I didn't really get in to and don't own any of is Pixies. No particular reason other than haven't listened to them enough.
