I've got two '80s bands on my concert calendar this summer: The Psychedelic Furs in August and Echo & The Bunnymen in September.

P.S. did any of you make it to the Cruel World Festival last weekend in Pasadena? Looked like an awesome lineup.

P.P.S. someone mentioned Radiohead. Definitely not an '80s band. "Creep" came out in 1992 and that was their debut single.

Here's a video they shot at my aunt & uncle's skatepark in Upland.

The Agent Orange I tried to download in the late 90s and early 00s in MA was almost always fake and not actually a recording of them. I was trying to find anything with some edge at the time and their name was popping up a decent amount.

Hell yes. I lost a ton of this stuff when someone broke into my car and stole my Case Logic full of cassettes.

From a punk’s perspective in the 80s, Agent Orange never had edge

Solid blast from the past. I was clearing out a closet a couple years ago and unearthed several of those Case Logic nylon zippered cassette cases.

Can't really talk about Agent Orange and Suicidal Tendencies without also a shout out to JFA. Suicidal Tendencies had much better chops and production than the other two.. To each their own though...

I passed on an opportunity to see them in a small venue around 1989. I'm an IDIOT, but you already knew that..

Krist Novoselic has said Nirvana was simultaneously perceived as "too punk" and "not punk" at all.

IMO, Black Flag for socal, and Dead Kennedys for norcal would be on the punk end of the scene, and Agent Orange, X, Green Day, and even the Descendents would be at the pop end.

But really, it's all just points on the rock spectrum.

In the early '80s, I recall seeing The Clash 5 nights in one week at Bonds NYC. General admission. Standing for the entire time. Buying cocktails and other things in the auditorium while the band was playing.

The (Clash) had a new opening act every night, including The Fall, Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, Dead Kennedys, Bad Brains, KRAUT, Lee "Scratch" Perry and many more.

The 80s for me was building car models. I liked understanding how the parts came together, painting, and the smell of the glue...lol

Anyway I bought these recently so I can relive my youth.

Furs and EATB are both still pretty good live - Furs sound great, McCulloch's voice is rough these days.

FWIW pre-sale code for Bunnymen tickets is EATB40.

I started a thread on the Cruel World fest. We went on Sat. Fantastic!

Yep, got the tix. I last saw them in 2019, so yeah I agree Ian's voice is a bit rough, but I'm just glad he's still at it.

This will be my first time seeing the Furs live.

Punk and Hip Hop in the '80s was like oil and vinegar. Kind of like southern rock and hip hop. Most listened to one or the other, but not both. I kind of think that we would show up after pre-gaming at 11:30 or midnight each night, very buzzed, and I don't remember any opening acts

I remember when I switched from rap to metal in the 80’s. I physically destroyed my rap tapes and CD’s.
