I remember a friend called me from Dallas StarPlex several times and was giving live reports... during the performances.. Just to rub it in LOL! Wish I hadn't missed that when I lived right there..

X2!!! That Ministry show might be the loudest band I've seen live, the ground was shaking. Ice Cube got held up at the Canadian border while they searched his bus so Ministry played in his slot as the sun was setting.

Yeah Eddie Vedder was at the height of his climbing the curtains thang;

I recall as he dangled, one armed, from the center of the main curtain rod, some 40-50' off the stage deck...if he falls, that ain't likely survivable.

He aped it back to the side and slid down the curtain like a champ tho.

Chili Peps were slick. Saw them years before on the uplift mofo party plan tour when they were young and tough with Hillel.
Soundgarden at their peak, Ice cube was hitting it and Ministry during the Psalm 69 tour were powerful.

I remember it being hot as fuckall that day too.

Less crowded.
More affordable.
Clipping wickets.
Fatter skis at the end.

Could be the best ski decade ever.

I dream of JH in the late sixties with only the tram.
The smith video is boner city. But man those skinny skis were hard to ski in pow.

The 90's were fucking incredible for skiing! It was exciting and evolving faster than we could imagine.

The original Dynastar Bigs. F they were sick and stupidly fun. They exploded really quickly but dang they were ripping.

Before fat skis I remember watching TB4 and thinking....fuck, why can't we ski the mountain like these guys and a few years later we were taking it in that direction. Great times!

your thoughts on 90s era shaped skis reminded me of attending various ski racing camps at Hood and Valian's in Govy had the Volant guys out font pushing their shaped metal ski "Ski the Steel!". Having a hard time finding a good image but I do recall the Volants being pretty early in the adoption of the shaped ski.

I skied on Volants for a few years. They skied so quiet, they were like Cadillacs. There was zero vibration or chatter in those skis. A big hit with a back seat landing or a violent tomahawk could bend them up pretty easily though.

New York Seltzer was an 1990-91 thing for me.

The local roller rink where parents would dump their kids for the afternoon used to sell them for 25c a pop. The root beer and black cherry were my go-tos before a game of Galaga and awkawrdly asking some girl to do couples skate.

Then, poof. They were gone.

Saw em a couple years ago down the aisle from Bartles and Jaymes and Zima in Kroger in what could only be described as the nostalgia aisle.

About 10 years ago a friend showed me some digitized 8mm film of him and his friends at JHMR in the 60s. They were trying flips off a cat walk. He laughed that how none of them were smart enough to think of trying backflips off a booter. Instead they were throwing themselves into front flips. With leather boots and Kandahar bindings.

It was definitely a blast from the past seeing that label.

Ain't that the truth. (N)icehouse seemed to be the best of the bunch, and Red Dog was malt liquor swill, but the absolute worst had to be either Bud Light Ice (with the jagged clear bottles), or Beast Light Ice, aka Ninja Juice.
